A/N: I'm so sorry for not updating yesterday. I got home late from college and I had taken my computer downstairs so I could steal the TV as a monitor (it's HD unlike my £20 monitor in my room XD) as my parents were in Paris for the day. I'm not quite comfortable with writing while my little brother is sitting in the same room, I don't like sharing my writing with family XD

While I'm kinda on the topic of spending time with my little brother, we watched the new Naruto Shippuden episode and I saw my favourite character die again, twice (he kinda dies twice). I was so close to crying but I didn't. Probably because my little brother was there, and he would have laughed at me. He mocked me for crying about a gif of L dying.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter!

Chapter Twenty-One

"Come on!" Mello hisses, he takes hold of my wrist and I feel myself being dragged up from the ground. I open my eyes to see the building in complete ruins. My ears are still ringing, it's a surprise I actually heard Mello speak. I don't dare look back, I'd only slow us down and there's a chance the Taskforce will see us as we escape.

We exit what is left of the base, and make our way to the forest nearby.

The ringing in my ears fades and the shock of what happened begins to wear off. In its place, is a burning sensation spreading across my right arm. I then feel a sharp pain my left leg that I must have received when I fell from the blast. I wouldn't be surprised if I have several wounds.

"M-Mello. I think my arm got burnt." I say as we run through the forest, aiming to get as much distance between us and the Taskforce. I tug the mask off my face with my burnt arm so I could take a better look, however the lack of light makes this difficult.

"We'll stop in a sec." Mello commands, his grip on my wrist becoming tighter. Did he get injured too? The left side of his body was clearly exposed to the blast. I would be surprised if he made it out unscathed.

After around thirty more seconds of running, we finally slow down to a stop. Mello tugs off his mask and holds it in his hand.

"Where are you hurt?" He asks me when he's caught his breath.

"My arm is burnt, I think, and my leg hurts. I'm not really sure." I mumble. I shut my eyes and breathe deeply. Exhaustion from not sleeping is finally catching up to me. I open my eyes again. "You? There's no way you got away from that unharmed."

"Burns."

"I think we should go to the hospital. We need help." I suggest, I take a few steps forward only to stumble on the uneven ground. I think the ground was uneven. I collapse onto the ground, the world fading to black.

I float in and out of consciousness. I vaguely remember being carried by Mello, his voice causing me to stir as he complains about having to carry me when his arm is burnt.

I finally regain consciousness, after what felt like forever of dreams fading into nightmares of explosions and loud gun shots.

I open my eyes only to wince as bright light floods my vision. I slowly sit up and let out a groan, my whole body feels like it has been beaten up. I look at my right arm to see it's bandaged up. Did Mello take me to the hospital?

I look around the unfamiliar room. The walls are a pale blue and the window is covered by thin white curtains. The room holds a dresser, which is placed under the window, and a large wardrobe on the opposite side.

I throw the cover away from my body and look down, I'm still wearing the same pyjamas, which are now covered in dirt and holes. I supress a groan at the realisation that these are the only clothes I own now, since Mello so nicely blew them up.
