Oh No

"Stop complaining" I say for the tenth time.

"How can I not complain. This isn't really on the top of my list of things to do on a Sunday morning" Jake says as we walk thru the aisles.

"You promised you'd come with me" I say as I stop in my tracks and look at him. "I don't excatly have a mother I could do this with nor do I have a girl best friend to do this with either" I say. "You know what it's fine let's go." I toss my hands in the air dramatically. I'm just done. "Let's find Joshua and let's go" I turn away from him, feeling tired and annoyed that I don't have more girl friends. Jake grabs my arm and turns me around to face him again.

"Alice I'm sorry I'm just grumpy, it's early. I lied I wouldn't want to spend my time differently. I love shopping for dresses with you" he says and the last sentence is said with such humor that I end up smiling at him. "See there's that smile, let's get the perfect dress for you and then we can go eat because I'm starving" I nod my head in a agreement.

"How about this one?" Joshua pops out of no where and holds up a dress that is horrendous. I shake my head viciously.

"No, hell no" I joke. He takes a look at the dress and shrugs his shoulders.

"It isn't that bad" he says.

"Look how about this?" I pull out a tan dress that's plain and has no sleeves.

"Put that back, no you will not be wearing that" Jake says. He snatches the dress and hangs it back up.

"What's wrong with it?" I ask. "I think it's really pretty"

"Pretty? Huh. That's way to short. No." He turns away from me and I sneak the dress again. I should at least try it on.

We pull out a couple more dresses. The dresses I pick are pretty and wear-able. The ones they pull out are ugly and long, baggy.

"You do realize I'm short. I'll be dragging that dress the whole dance" I say as Joshua holds up another dress.

"Just try it on." He hands me the dress and I get it.

"Fine but let me try these on. I have atleast fifteen dresses right now" we walk to the dressing room and they sit on the little couch.

"Come out so we can see them too" Joshua says. Jake just rolls his eyes and nods his head.

I walk into the dressing room and shut the door behind me. The first dress I try on is black. It has sleeves that are transparent. It isn't ugly but it isn't amazing either. It ends at my knees because this is one of Jakes choices. It's really loose. I walk outside and I wait for their responses. They both start busting up and I flip them both off. I walk back to the dressing room to try a different one on.

"No wait Alice that's a pretty one!" Jake says. I shut the door and take off the dress. This is a no.

The next dress is the one Joshua picked the long one. It's grey and has little beads all over. As soon as I slip it on I laugh at my reflection. No way in hell will I wear this.

"Joshua picked this one out" I say as I open the door. Joshua has a confident look on his face but it soon slides off his face as he sees me. Jake and I bust up laughing.

"Its so ugly, worse than the last one" Jake says between laughter.

"It isn't that bad, no yeah it's pretty bad" Joshua says. I walk back to the room and take it off.

Next one is my pick its a pastel pink. It's tight fitted and it ends about an inch before my knee. It's actually really pretty. I walk out and they both look serious all of the sudden.
