She was in Lexa's room, hunched over a large map spread out across a wooden table. Clarke was eyeing it discreetly, trying to remember coordinates and vantage points. Lexa walked over to her, standing by her side and scanning the map as well.
"So, have you decided where your army is going to come from? I think you should take my suggestion and have them come from the East woods." Lexa moved her finger down the map, halting at a large circle. Curiosity struck Clarke.
"What does that grey circle represent?" Clarke asked coldly, as she blinked a few times.
"We avoid that area, that is where the Reapers come from..they come from deep within the caverns and caves. We wouldn't want to run into them." Lexa warned, her finger moving past the grey circle. Clarke remembered the Reapers. the peculiar looking men and women who dwell in caves, wearing rags and dark hellish crimson armor. Clarke thought back to her run in with them, when she Wells and Alyson escorted Raven to the Dropship.
"lexa, I have a side question, unrelated to our war.." Clarke mumbled.
"What?"
"The City Of Light...What exactly is it? I understand it is a place of freedom and freewill, but what does it look like? Is it far? From what Wells told me, it is pretty far."
"Honestly, I don't know what the City Of Light is, Nor what it looks like visually...I sent a lot of men to go and find it. They always never come back...I'm guessing it is so good, they decide to never return." Lexa gave a faithful smile before returning her vision to the map.
"Or they never return because their dead." Clarke gave her a serious look, wondering if she sent Wells, Jaha, and Claudia to their deaths.
"Oh Clarke, your always so doubtful..Learn to have hope, learn to be faithful."
"I wish I could. Every time I try, my faith always ends up getting crushed by the problem itself.." Clarke sighed nervously, twiddling a strand of hair around on her finger. She loved her new hair, Lexa's men braided some parts of it for her the other day, now she looks like a true warrior.
"You must stop being so sensitive." Lexa huffed back at Clarke, continuing her focus on the map, plotting a few coordinates.
"I know, I know..It's just difficult..I mean look at you, you're strong and bold..watching your own mother die in front of you hardened you up."
"quiet..." Lexa retorted loudly, swiftly turning towards Clarke, her teeth grit and her eyes wide. Clarke took a few steps back, seeing how angered Lexa was.
"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have used that as an example...it wasn't right..please forgive me.." Clarke apologized. Clarke had a hurt face, as she returned her vision to the map. Lexa placed a hand on her shoulder.
"No, Its alright...I shouldn't have snapped like that..It is just that I and my Mother were close..When my Mother was Heda, and she had I and Claudia, only one of us would rise to become Commander. I was more proficient in my classes, and was better at training..Claudia skipped class most of the time, wandering off with her friends in the woods..she complains how she isn't commander, when she never put effort into being one...Mother would be ashamed"
"I see..well, she would be proud of you.." Clarke replied, as Lexa detached her arm from Clarke's shoulder. It was silent for the next few minutes. The two were both gradually viewing the map closely, not a word between them. And that was when a thought popped into Clarke's head. She thought back to when she lead the Reapers out of the cave as a diversion, to get them out of Wells, Alyson, and Ravens way. "Hey, Lexa, I have an idea."
"What is it?"
"The Reapers, they are chasers..if they merely see you, they'll chase after you until you outrun them...We can use that."
"What do you mean?" Lexa asked confusingly.
"We lead the Reapers right to the Ice Nation during the war. The enemy of my enemy, is my friend." Clarke grinned. Lexa grinned as well, pulling a marker out, plotting certain points on the map.
"yes, yes! The reapers would be a great diversion! They are cannibalistic, they can take down at least twenty percent of The Ice Nations army, while we work on the other eighty percent..We can pull through!"
"All we need now is to get the hundred here, and maybe any members of the Ark that survived from the wreckage, and is in a healthy condition." Clarke smiled, thinking about the hundred. Wells' group is transporting them to the Ark wreckage, so they can reconnect with their parents and get to safety, Clarke and a few Grounders will have to pick them up from there.
"Very well. The War is set at first light, tomorrow. Today, we feast. Tomorrow, we fight. The Peak of war is among us, Clarke." Lexa gave another docile smile, before turning around to sound the bells, that war is coming, and her soldiers must prepare. Clarke figures she and Lexa can probably fetch the hundred later tonight. She hopes they are well trained, and they help. She just wants this war to be won, and over with. But what if the grounders and sky people don't win? What if the Ice Nation wins? Clarke began to worry, but reminded herself that they can accomplish anything, as long as they have a plan and a cause. But what if that cause is not a cause, but a flaw?
