hours it took them to reach the desert. And when they finally did, six members quit. They left Wells, his Father Jaha, Claudia, and the other three flat on their feet. Hours it had been, walking through miles of sand and nothing else. It wasn't pleasant, Wells felt sores growing on the soles of his feet, and blisters on his ankles. He was absolutely exhausted, he couldn't understand how energetic Claudia was, how ambitious and excited she was. She was probably is use to all this walking and traveling, Wells and people wasn't.

"It's sunset, the sun will go down within the next two hours..sh-shouldn't we take a break?" One of the random men with them asked, tilting his head. Claudia shook her head.

"Not a good idea..The bugs will get us if we let our guard down." Claudia warned, looking back at everyone. Wells' face was drenched in sweat, and some blood. He had a few boils on his forehead, and scrapes. He didn't understand what she was talking about when referring to 'Bugs.' Insects maybe?

"Bugs? Like Insects?" Wells asked confusingly. Claudia looked back, a layer of drizzling sand on her forehead.

"No, not the insects. Huge Scorpions, they roam the deadzone, and feast on people like you and I, the Mutants aren't a plus in this situation either, they straddle around here also." Claudia warned, directing her vision back to the front. Wells sighed, continued to trek. The back of his legs were burning sensationally. He couldn't remember the last time he sat down. His Father was beside him, and leaned down.

"Some Promised land, huh?" His Father kidded, nudging his shoulder. Wells rolled his eyes, actually cracking a faithful smile, as he chuckled at his Fathers remark.

"We'll make it there, Dad..We will. We just have to continued navigating through this sand." Wells was faithful. His Father, not so much.

"Tell me, Claudia." Jaha began speaking. "We went North from the tip of the Washington D.C. area, we traveled enough to be in New York state. I don't recall the geography books on The Ark, explaining that New York was a desert."

"What? What's New York?" Claudia asked, not even bothering to look back, she just continued to trudge forward. Jaha had a worried look on his face.

"a state, you never heard? You don't know where we are! have you heard about New York City? The Big Apple they called it."

"I-I don't know what a State is...I can assure you, I do know where I'm going...kind of, all the maps say the City Of Light is around her somewhere, we just have to do North from the eastern side, and we'll end up there..I don't know what it looks like, but we'll know.." Claudia continued to walk forward hastily.

"What!? Wells, how can you have so much faith in her when she doesn't even know where we are? You said she is a navigator who knew the terrain, when she never even seen the City of damn Light!" Jaha protested, looking like he was beginning to grow quite aggravated. Claudia turned around quickly, an irritated look on her face. She stepped over to him, and pointed forward.

"You see that big heap of sand? That gigantic hill dammit?" She hissed. Jaha nodded without question.

"The City Of Light should be over it. All the maps say that the City Of Light is over a large hill-like ridge...you see that thing?" Claudia pointed over a few hill structures to the right, to a structure, some kind of artifact from the time before this. Wells recognized it, immediately. You couldn't see the head, but it was the Statue Of Liberties hand, sticking up from the sand, the Statue was basically burrowed underground. The hand wasn't a shiny green, it was a brownish faded green color. The torch it held was half destroyed, pieces hung from the side of it. Wells gasped in excitement, couldn't fully believing they made it all the way from Washington D.C. to here, it amazed him. Jaha nodded, seeing the Statue Of Liberties remains. "That broken down structure, it was on one of the maps I've read recently, the maps spoke of it lingering near the City Of Light..Now come on, over that hill.." Claudia revolved back around to continue her haste. Jaha rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

"She is pretty obnoxious, no wonder her Sister always threw her in the slammer.." Jaha snorted lowly, just low enough for Wells to hear. The three other people with them walked ahead Jaha, and followed Claudia.

"She wasn't thrown in jail all that time because of her attitude, she was always thrown in there because she and the Plain-Riders stole from Lexa a lot..Come on, she may be right..The promised land may be over that sand hill!" Wells got a burst of excitement, as he ran forward, catching up with the continuing group. Jaha sighed, following as well. The exhausted group continue, in pursuit for acceptance and happiness. The City Of Light is capable of fulfilling both those needs.
