Chapter Thirteen

She stared at Leo confused,
"No, you are Leo..and who is Ethan?"
She has forgotten, she doesn't know Ethan.
"Leo.. you are Ethan?" she said as she remembered her dream when she was unconscious. Was her dream a real memory she had forgotten.
"Do you remember anythilng about Ethan?"
She nodded and he inched forward, "what?"
"it was a dream so i didn't see your face clearly, i just heard your promise to come get me"
"it wasn't a dream, it was real sighs you remember the girlfriend i told you about in the garden?" she nodded thoughtfully. "Aimee, that was you! To think all these while you've being here and i did not recognize you, i'm sorry Aimee. I was so sure i would know it was you if i found you!"
"i guess you didn't" she said and he hugged her tight.
"oh Aimee! I finally found you"

Bella was holding a supporter and walking slowly with Leo helping her, for her leg to recuperate, "walk, you can do it" he encouraged as she walked on and he slowly let her go without her knowing. "see! you are walking" he commented smiling and she turned to face him, her face mirroring the pain she felt, "Aimee, what's wrong?" he said as he closed the distance between them a second early to catch her as she collapsed.
"Aimee! Aimee! Aimee!" he shook her lightly,reaching the alert button on her bed side Joan shouted "Martin! Please help!"
Soon Martin, two other doctor and nurses were in the room. The doctors carried Bella to the bed as the nurses ushered the family and friends out of the room. "what's wrong with her?" Richard said.
"she's having cardiac arrest" Martin managed to say in the midst of the rush.
"My baby! Bella!" Joan screamed crying.
"150, clear" Martin said as they connected the defibrillator and placed it on her chest.
"cardio graph" he called
"systole" a nurse answered
"200, clear" he repeated
"systole"
"250, clear"
"wait.... reviving"
The team heaved a sigh of relief and then checked on her.
As the team came out of her ward, the scared-to-death waiting family attacked them,
"is she okay?"
"yes, she is stable right now " the doctor said and sighed with an expression that said 'all is not well'.
"Richard, we need to talk" Martin said and led him to his office.
The office had pure white wall that almost put Richard's white shirt to shame, strong smell of antiseptic and health charts were hung on the wall. Martin dropped his stethoscope on the table and offered Richard the seat opposite his.
" What's wrong with her, Martin?   Spill the beans, thererr's no way the car hit caused a cardiac arrest"
Martin sighed, " i didn't want Joan to know.. " Harold nodded patiently.
"Bella's cardiomyopathy has gotten worse, dilate cardiomyopathy" Martin explained the situation.
"So? what do we have to do?"
"She needs a new heart"
"You mean a heart transplant?"
"Yes, i've already talked to some nurses, there are going to run some tests on her for formality sake although I already added her name to the waiting list"
"how long can she survive waiting?"
"From what i see, she still has about 10 weeks"
"And just how far is she on the list?"
"She's number 28 for now, heart isn't something you can just buy in the market so we can only wait, pray and hope. And since she is AB, she can get lucky"
Richard nodded absorbing every word.
"richard don't worry! She'll live"
Both men stood up, shook hands and Richard walked back to Bella's ward.
"How is she?" he asked as he entered.
"Better, what did Mart say?"
"Nothing much" he shrugged
"Is her cadiomyopathy worse?"
The whole room turned to the only one in the room who had the answer to the question eyes bugging.
"She's going to be alright.... okay?"
Joan sobbed quietly as she stroked her daughter's face.
"You boys should go home, it's almost midnight!" Martin said and sent the boys home.
