Chapter Nineteen

*Leo*

I woke up the next morning to sizzling sounds coming from the kitchen, so i walked out of my room.
"Good morning" i turned to see Dave sitting on the cushion, reading a thriller novel.
"Good morning" i replied and walked back to my room to brush my teeth.
"so what's for breakfast?" i asked as i rejoined Austin in the kitchen.
"As you can see, fried egg with milk" Austin answered brightly.... He was the diva in the kitchen.
I ate slowly, took my bath, dressed up and off we went again..... to the hospital.
I saw Cathy crying as i entered the ICU and walked briskly to her side, Jemimah's face was covered with a handkerchief while the men looked extremely exhausted.
"what happened?"
"she had another attack, she has only few more days before all hope is finally lost"
It's time.
As i walked to Martin's office, it was like someone decided to play a slideshow of my life..
I've already made my decision! Nothing can change my mind now.
"Good morning, sir"
"ah! Leo right? come on in"
I walked into the white, antiseptic smelling office and sat down, "so how can i help you?"
"it's about Bella"
"yes? Go on"
"no..... hope yet?" was that a question or a statement... I really don't know.
"Son, heart is not just something you can just grab from someone, it requires patience, prayer and maybe luck"
"i know that damn it!" i hit my fist on the table making him flinch, here i am at my wit's end and he's explaining bullshit to me like i'm a child!
I sighed reigning my anger in, "i'm sorry.... i would like to donate my heart"
I think he froze, when he finally thawed he shook his head slowly, "Don't be that desperate"
"i have thought really well about it, sir"
"and your parents? did they agree to it?"
Oh you are so not playing any card to stop me.
"They are dead"
"You might most probably not be compatible with her system"
"i already did the test about three weeks ago, i am"
"No, we can't just kill someone for another, we are doctors! WE SAVE NOT KILL!"
"sir please, Bella can't go, i'll be dead if she does"
"and you think she won't be if you are?"
Okay, maybe i didn't think of that
"she must not know i'm dead, you can always say, i decided to leave the country and move on" i attempted to shrug but failed woefully because of the heavy weight of emotions that was on me.
"Leo, don't lose faith, your parents will be sad to see their son, a handsome, young lad meet them so soon"
I sighed, "the same way i and Bella's parents will be sad if she...., i don't have much to lose compared to her, please consider it"
"i will not!" he said sternly as i stood up and left his office.
I went to the ICU to check on her, she was pale and lean reminding me of Bella in twilight... Can someone tell me why both of them have the same name!
"Hey"
Silence
"i've got great news for you, you wanna hear" she nodded.
"they got a heart today"
Hope flickered into her dull eyes, "really?"
"yeah really, you just have to hold on for a couple more hours, okay?"
"Do mom and dad know"
"no, i wanted to tell you first"

Was it the over excitement that caused it, i don't know, but all of a sudden the heart monitor started making wierd noise and i quickly pressed the red button, soon a train of doctors and nurses came running. A nurse pulled me out as they struggled to revive her.
Later, they came out sighing,
"Martin, what's wrong"
He sighed, "her vitals are stable for now but she's unconscious"
"please consider what i requested, there's no other way... Uh! PLEASE!" i shouted holding his shirt collar before letting it go. He sighed again, his eyes trained on the ground and walked away.
That's it!
Now i'm going crazy! Mad, Rage... I stormed out of the hospital to my car, sped off to our apartment, got a note and wrote,

Sorry i had to do this, there's no other way. Bella, i love you so much and i can't live to watch you suffer. Harry, Dave, Austin, you guys have being the best thing to have happened in my life. Irene, it was nice to know that i have a nice little sister. Steph, i forgive you for abandoning me, because without that i wouldn't have met Aimee.
Bella, I will always be in your heart, remember that.
Ps: please show this to Bella after she's grey and old. Don't tell her what happened to me until then. Just tell her i left the country to move on and she should do the same 'cos I'm not coming back.

I folded the paper, pulled out my father's gun from where i kept it, put two bullets in it, drove back to the hospital and barged and into Martin's office.
"i'm ready"
"No, Leo you can't do this"
"If you don't take me in for that surgery now, i'll kill myself... I don't care"
"Boy, calm down!"
"Since you don't want my death on your hands, i do it myself, come collect my corpse and take my heart, i will be on the rooftop" i said, dropped the paper on his table and left the office taking my last steps into the elevator and hitting the roof button.
