Chapter Twenty Two

*Harry*

As i got to the hospital i went straight to Leo's room.
"Bella.. where's my Bella?"
"Sir, please calm down"
"My Bella is dying, take me to her"
I walked into the room and saw a nurse holding a syringe most definitely containing sedative.
"Don't you dare inject me with that!" he said pointing at the syringe.
"Sir, let's make a deal, you shut the hell up and not disturb the hospital and you don't get sedated, do we have a deal?" the elder of the nurses there said.
He nodded obediently and the nurses filed out of the room with admiration for their senior colleague.
As they left, i turned with the harshest glare i've ever made to look stern, "Leo why did you do it?"
He sighed and covered his face with his palm.
"Harry" Rose called as she opened the door.
"you can't knock!" i scolded but she just rolled her eyes.
"Bella.."
"what happened?" Leo said jumping from the bed immediately.
"she moved, she's waking up"
"she had her surgery already?" Leo asked confused. He had been sedated since the day of the incident so he didn't know anything that had happened including his almost arrest.
"yeah" i said as Rose led us to her ward.
We walked into her room and our eyes were locked on her recovering body on the bed which was looking much more healthy than weeks ago.
"Bella" Leo called as he walked towards her and her hand moved. He sat on her bed and held her hands.
"Bella, wake up.. Leo is here"
He rubbed her hand staring at her hopefully, "wake up, i'm here now"
There was silence in the room before everyone sighed and moved to sit down on the chairs in the room.
"Leo" she said softly and her eyes fluttered open.
"Bella!" he said surprised.
"i'll call the doctor" i pressed the green button on the wall and Martin walked in.
"Leo, excuse me, i want to check her" he questioned her how she felt and reported on a notebook.
"how is she?" i asked
"she's doing great, if she improves more this week, she can be discharged by next week.
I nodded and went to hug her,
"Good job, you've worked Bells! Am proud of you" i whispered in her ear.
"Thanks Harry"
I turned back and noticed Leo leaving the room with Martin,
"where's he going?" i asked Rose, who just shrugged
"i'll be right back" i said and followed behind them to Martin's office. I stayed in front of the door confused on whether to go in or wait outside.
"Martin, i'm really sorry for what i did?" Leo started
"I understand" Martin said calmly cutting him off.
"So why did you call me out to your office"
"It's about.. the goodbye letter you wrote"
I had to strain my ears to hear it, pressing my ears to the door.
"what about it?"
"You said Stephanie Hugo is your mom?"
What!
"yes i did"
"how did you get to know?"
"well... when my adopted parents died, i stayed at the orphanage home for a while, one time i was snooping around and i saw the records... When i asked our oldest matron, she told me that Steph's mom was the one who left me there, so... " he trailed off. Suddenly, the door flew open and i fell on Martin.
"Ever heard eavesdropping isn't good, boy"
Busted!
"Hi Martin" i smiled way too bright.
Leo's phone rang and we turned to him as he picked the call,
"Hey Irene.... am in Martin's office.... Austin called you?...... Sure.... Okay, see you"
"okay as were saying.." Martin started but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
He sighed rubbing his palm on his forehead, "yes, come in"
Irene opened the door and walked in, dragging her reluctant mom along, "Leo! Am so happy for you" she jumped on him holding him in a life squeezing hug before turning to Martin and showering with thank yous.
"Martie?"
"Stephie" the two adults said as they walked towards each other, if i thought Irene's hug was life squeezing, then Mart and Steph's hug was... like a death grip?
They released each other finally as we stared at the no doubt 'old lovers reunion'
"it's been a long time"
Martin nodded, "hasn't it?"
"it surely has"
"Please have a seat, we are trying to solve a mystery here?"
"Oh! I love mysteries" She said her eyes glinting with excitement.
Martin nodded and passed a piece of paper to her, she read it as her face drained off its colour and stared at Leo.
She shook her head, "it's not possible, my son died after i gave birth.. Mom told me!"
Martin looked at her, "whose son is he?"
She turned tears filling up her eyes, "i found out... after we broke up, we were in Europe already so i couldn't tell you..." her face was now wet with tears.
"after i gave birth and the baby died, my mom traveled out and came back with news that i was engaged to Luke, the father of ny triplets..."
"then its your mom, who can clear things up for us"
We all travelled in Martin's jeep to the outskirts and stopped at a small two storey building.
"Mama! Mama!" Steph called out as she entered the password and walked into the house with us closely behind her.
"Stephanie! You didn't call me to say you're coming" the old woman said as she drove her wheelchair holding a cup of ginger tea in her other hand. Her hair all white, a sharp grey eyes and pointed nose.
"oh! I see you've got visitors.."
"Hi Sarah, it's me.. Martin"
There was a pause for a while before she talked, "oh! Martin.. Its good to see you again, it's been a long time"
"it sure has"
"So who are the boys" She said looking at me then Leo.
"That's Harry and Leo" Steph answered.
"Nice to meet you boys" she said studying Leo intently.
"Mom, is there anything you would like to tell me?"
"Tell you what? You were the one who came to see me suddenly, so i should be the one asking"
Steph sighed, "About the child i gave birth to for Martin"
"what should i say.. I told you he d.."
"Stop lying Mother! I already know the truth!"
"I'm sorry.... what truth?"
Wow! Both mother and daughter are good actresses..
"We already did a DNA test!"
We did? When?
"Okay, I'll say the truth.. He didn't die, i gave him away for adoption"
"You did WHAT!"
"You were young, had a bright future, so why would i let you give it all up to become a single mom" Sarah said unrepentant of her actions.
"Mom, how could you take away my son from me!"
"I'm sorry sweetie, but i had no choice" she answered sternly.
Steph turned to Leo tears rolling down her cheeks.
"My son" she said as she moved towards him and hugged him, crying into his shoulders as he stood rigid staring at her. Soon he relaxed and hugged her back,
"mother....mom" he said as silent tears rolled down his face.

The newly rejoined family and I went back to the hospital. When Irene found out Leo is her big brother, she jumped on him, hugging him happily.

The next week, Bella was discharged from the hospital, by then exam was beginning but she couldn't join us because she already missed most of the tests. So she ended having outstanding for all the courses she missed warranting an extra year after the year, we're supposed to graduate for her.

Hi guys, sorry for being late.. Exam is starting soon.. I can't believe this book is almost seeing two semesters exam @_@.
here is the last chapter. Who's crying with me :'(. Epilogue will be coming up asap. So we get to say goodbye to the characters who i've gotten attached to. Who has being your fav. character? How was the story?
