Game on Chapter 11

Ace’s POV

We explained what happened editing the story a little so I didn’t sound like a slut and he didn’t get slapped by Brittany. Basically, we lied our asses off about the whole thing. We gave Patrov the necklace and explained that it had a lust spell on it. Everyone pitied us as we explained fighting the urge and had to fight each other to make the urge go away. We made it out like we were started kissing and then started fighting each other and the charm finally we threw it out the window. It was an Oscar worthy performance and everyone fell for it. We explained how Pavlo gave it to me and I thought about all the earth users we knew. “Can I go outside and get some fresh air?” I said figuring out our mystery earth user.

“Sure Connors you’ve done all you could for now get some air and calm down”, she smiled. I went outside and went to the parking lot quickly and quietly to find the red sports car my dad got me. I looked around and went into the trunk pulling out my emergency kit and put it on the backseat. I got into the front seat and hit the gas. I had to hurry I had a really bad feeling about this and I knew where I was going. I was halfway there and in the mountains when something popped up from behind me. I hit the brakes and I looked back to see Vick and Julie sitting in the backseat.

“God I don’t have time for this”, I said getting out of the car.

“Where are we going?” Julie asked hopefully.

“Back to the stupid school Vick you should know better”, I said pacing.

“I want to know why I slept with my best friend”, he said sitting up. I shot him a murderous look why did he say that in front of Julie.

“Oh, don’t worry I already know I saw you guys making out on the floor on my way to the bathroom”, she said brushing it off. I whacked my head into the hood.

“Who else saw?” I asked once I’d calmed down a little.

“No one and I’m not telling anyone so cool it down you look like you’re about to burst”, she said, “Why do you guys even try bullshitting me?”

“I don’t know habit alright since I’m stuck with you guys I know who the earth user is”, I said getting back into the car.

“Who is it?” they demanded.

“Alena I heard her one time talking to Pavlo about how prissy she thought the royals were and didn’t Will Sarcozy tell her she was filth last week when they broke up”, I explained.

“She wants to rid the world of royals”, Vick guessed.

“And what better way to do that then to hand them to the Strigoi in the mall?” Julie finished.

“They must have brought them there or given them a clue”, I explained hitting the gas again.

“So the three of us are going to take on oh I don’t know maybe forty Strigoi”, he said rolling his eyes. I gave him a look before I replied.

“That’s why we’re in a car and not walking stupid”, I said soberly.

“Oh Strigoi bowling”, he nodded.

“Just don’t let me hit any Moroi”, I said putting my foot down harder on the gas.

“Can I just say I love your new car”, Julie said sitting up in the front seat.

“Anything is better than that old beat up Mustang my dad got me when I got back”, I laughed.

“The dying horse car”, we all sighed.

“I remember it went from zero to a hundred in like two hours”, I laughed.

“Yeah and every twenty minutes you had to stop and get gas”, Vick reminded me. I wish things were still like they were younger I had a feeling things between me and Vick would never be the same. He and I would never work out though not in this current world. We’d just have to stay friends and hoped we could just be that.

“This one takes hours to run out of gas”, I said proudly.

“Hallejah”, Vick said leaning in between the seats.

“Let’s do this”, I said pulling the roof up with a switch and closed all the windows. We stayed silent for most of the ride and I was fine with that. We got to the mall and it was full of blacked out vans bingo. We drove past and parked around the corner waiting for the cowards to show themselves. We waited patiently deep silent and ready for action. I saw the Strigoi coming out of the mall and I saw Alena and Pavlo step out of a blacked out van. They approached each other and I waited. “I need you two to jump out on the first turn you need to get the Moroi out of here I’ll call it in just be careful”, I explained watched the twosome walk back towards the vans, “Julie take Pavlo down and Vick you have permission to slug Alena”. They both nodded and I hit the gas speeding towards the Strigoi with my lights off. I turned right before I hit the leader and Vick and Julie jumped out and I hit the first wave of Strigoi. This should be fun.

Vick’s POV

I jumped out of the door just as ordered and dodged the Strigoi and ran for Alena. She turned around just in time to see my fist before it collided with her nose. She fell back and I saw Julie strangling Pavlo holding his neck from behind. “Pavlo stop”, she ordered and he froze. She wasn’t an earth user, I realized. She was a spirit user and Pavlo was shadow kissed. “Julie stand up and stay still Pavlo kill her”, she ordered smoothly. I punched her in the side of the face and Julie snapped out of her daze just fast enough to stick her silver stake into Pavlo’s arm before he could snap her neck. He bent over and she kicked his head in. Alena started screaming and I did a Vulcan neck grab that Grace taught me and she blacked out.

“That was exhausting”, Julie said opening the first van. I opened the doors in the back and we helped the royals out. We continued to open up the vans and help the Moroi out and I got a lot of hugs and punches. I looked back and saw that the mall was on fire and I could hear Strigoi screaming from the inside and I saw someone jump off the roof and onto the slated roof in front of the garden section and then run over to us. I braced myself for a Strigoi but it was just Grace.

“Duck”, she called. We all ducked and suddenly the whole mall blew up. We all went and opened the last van to find Jason, Michael and two other Moroi. “Michael”, she said and he got up and kissed her. She smiled and they just looked at each other for a long moment and I felt awkward watching it. I was happy that she was happy though and I was glad that earlier tonight was in the past. We could just act like it never happened.

I looked up to see that the twosome was getting up and Grace went over and sprayed them both with mace. “She’s something”, Michael said standing next to me.

“Yeah”, I agreed.

“Thanks for the help and you throw a good punch”, he said shaking my hand.

“No problem and thank you”, I said then went and called us in. I got a talk about running away and playing hero and then lots of appraises and they finally told us they were on their way. I went back over and saw Grace pull out her phone. “I already called it in”, I told her but she just put up a finger to silence me.

“Hello dad hi I need a new car”, she said guiltily. We all burst out laughing and couldn’t stop it was just too funny and we needed a good laugh. “Alright thank you I’ll see you at Easter bye”, she said then hung up, “shut up guys I just blew up my favorite car”.

“Ace you just blew up the mall”, Julie said holding her stomach. We all broke out with fresh laughter even Grace was laughing herself silly. It looked like we’d survived another day and once again we were laughing at violence. We really needed to find a new hobby.

“Here they come”, Will said as the guardians arrived. We were so in for it now I didn’t even want to think about how long we were suspended.
