Game on Chapter 19

Vick’s POV

I hugged Alisa quickly then talked to Grace’s father about responsibility for a minute and then noticed Vera and Ethan again. Vera wasn’t with her husband of six years and Ethan wasn’t with his wife either. I still had Grace though and Galina and Alisa. I also had twins on their way and I was excited about that. The thought of Grace having my twins warmed me inside and made everything better. Her dad left and I called a family meeting texting Vera and Ethan to meet us in the Badica family commons. The four of us went there together and Galina sat on the couch lying across from each other and Grace and I took the love seat. “I’m tired after this I want to take a nap”, she yawned.

“Agreed”, I said kissing her on the cheek then we all started talking.

“What is the big deal?” Vera said walking over and joining us.

“Depends on where Taras is”, I said seriously.

“I got a quickie divorce in Mexico from him he was getting boring I prefer dhampir guys anyways”, she said sitting down in one of the armchairs.

“Well done sister”, Ethan said sitting in the other armchair, “Moroi are too grounded I can’t believe you married a non royal anyways”.

“He acted charming but I could tell he just wanted the housewife with power”, she sighed, “where’s Glenda?”

“Alaska I banished her there after she cheated on me with a dhampir girl who knew she was that type”, he said calmly. I bit my lip and I saw that Grace was doing the same. “What is Ace doing here?” he asked curiously.

“Because she’s cooler than you”, Galina said and I smiled at her and she winked.

“That doesn’t make her part of this conversation”, he snapped. Apparently he got snippy when a seventeen year old mocked him. “Why is she here?” he asked again, “not that I’m complaining”. I felt Grace’s grip change to an iron grip and I tried to calm her grip down.

“Nice to see that you haven’t changed”, she said smoothly.

“You’ve changed though”, he said examining her. The grip tightened even more and I spoke to keep from biting my lip any harder.

“You two did a very good job today of ruining our reputation”, I said.

“Not all of us can be saints like you what have you been up to lately Ace?” he asked politely.

“Whatever I felt like getting up to”, she said finally releasing the death grip.

“Are you busy tonight?” he said winking.

“Yeah she is”, I said automatically.

“I knew you two are best friends but are you going to let him run your life?” he asked her.

“As a matter of fact I am”, she said taking my hand. Vera and Ethan both looked at me and then someone walked in. It was our grandmother, the queen.

“Ace dear I’ve been looking for you”, she smiled and the two older siblings looked from grandma to Grace and back again.

“Dear”, Ethan said puzzled.

“I want to talk to you about the wedding”, she said grabbing Grace and pulling her out of the room. They both looked at me and Galina and Alisa came and sat with me.

“You’re engaged to a dhampir”, Ethan said crossing his arms.

“You’re engaged to Ace so let me get this straight you’re engaged to a dhampir who is your best friend and the queen is alright with that”, Vera said confused.
