It was getting late; the rising moon was cascading colours on the shimmering water, leaving a tail of shadows behind the two figures lay on the beach. The ocean sounds floated through the air as the night went on, along with the salty aroma of the sea.Natsu and Lucy had been chatting the day away, both lay on the lilac picnic blanket. Having wonderful conversations about magic and fairies. What the world would be like with these things.
Lucy loved the theme of fantasy. She had written numerous novels; some about the life of a girl with unknown powers, or a forest hiding the secrets of magic. Everyday she dreamed about being that special little girl, or entering the faraway forest. All she wanted was some magic in her life.
That was until she met Natsu.
The unforgettable first day of her new job; She was working in a small cafe on the corner of her street, serving food for the needy customers and delving her way through the many obstacles of the cafe.
A loud thump--leaving her flat on the floor. That was what had turned Lucy's boring old life around. After apologising an unnecessary amount of times, Lucy had looked up to see the most handsome boy to ever exist. Well, that was her opinion of him anyway.
He helped her up, along with picking up her dropped tray (luckily having no items on to have been served). She patted down her apron, and hair, feeling a light blush spread across her cheeks.
She said sorry one more time, somehow giving the boy something to laugh about. She laughed along with him, not really knowing why. Then he told her his name was Natsu, and she replied with Lucy.
Soon enough, they had exchanged numbers and were scheduled for a coffee the following day. Lucy beamed as she skipped her way home that night, dreaming of the Greek God that had entered her life once she got into bed.
Lucy and Natsu had been best friends since that day, but Natsu was always a little more in her heart. They spend most days together, relaxing at eachothers houses and ordering takeaway or laughing at how silly the two were together
Since then, Lucy's life has been far from boring. Lucy's life has been magical.
Now, here she is sitting with the boy of her dreams, thinking about what it would be like if maybe she was the one bringing magic to his life, thinking about if she was the girl of his dreams.
Lucy crossed her arms behind her head, looking up at the beautiful stars starting to pepper in the darkening, blue sky. One by one she watched them appear.
Natsu knew this was her favourite place to be when the night draws and took her here tonight especially. He wanted to tell her something special, and knew this place would be perfect.
He was sat upright with his hands propping him up behind his back. His legs were stretched out, nearly touching the end of the blanket but not quite. He looked towards the blonde girl, noticing her now lay, looking up at the sky. She looked beautiful to him.
"You know..." Natsu started, now moving his arms to lay down like Lucy. "You really mean the world to me Luce." He stated softly.
The blondes eyes widened but only for a short time. She knew he only meant as a friend. She turned her head to face him, seeing his eyes already locked on her.
"And you me." She replied, giving him a kind smile whilst they stared at eachother.
There was a few seconds of silence; the ocean sounds came re-chorusing back through the air.
Natsu smiled back.
"No Luce. I mean it." He replied. "You mean so much to me. More than you know"
He said the last part a little quieter but the blonde definitley heard it. Her heart fluttered at the moment, as she had hoped for this day since they had met.
Lucy sat up, crossing her legs beneath her, she looked back at Natsu to see him doing the same.
"I love everything about you Luce." He said, not breaking the eye contact with his special girl.
"I love the way you laugh when my jokes aren't funny, I love the way you always have the motivation for the day no matter the situation, I love the way your little lips pout when you want something your way." He spoke, trailing off as if suddenly realising he was speaking out loud.
Lucy was looking at the light blush that tickled his face, gaining one of her own. She smiled shyly, looking up to meet his eyes once again.
"What I'm trying to say Luce..." Natsu started again, fidgeting in his seat. "Is that I- I think I- AH!"
Natsu was cut off as Lucy jumped on him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pushing him to the floor on his back. She snuggled into his warm neck as she hugged him.
The truth was, Lucy was too scared to hear what Natsu had to say. She knew what was coming, but somehow wasn't ready.
Natsu just laughed, wrapping his protective arms around his crazy Lucy in a warm embrace.
He was worried she didn't feel the same; maybe that was why she cut him off... but why with a hug?
Lucy nestled her neck deeper into Natsu, breathing in his warm scent; it washed a sort of calmness over her, making her feel more relaxed and at home.
She sat up, her face still powdered with the pink from her blushing.
"Me too Natsu." She softly said, shocking herself due to the fact her mouth just gained a mind of its own. "You mean more to me than you know... more than a friend... I think."
She looked up at him with big eyes, his mouth parted in an position only to be presumed as shock.
Had she just said what he thought?
Her eyes glistened as she stared into his, desperately waiting for a response as she waited.
A small smile took over his features. He leaned forward, caressing her delicate chin in his calloused hands. He tilted her head a little, making her face parallel to his.
His warm breath fanned her face as he breathed down on her, parting his lips a little.
Her heart was pounding loudly in her chest, from anxiety but also excitement.
Their eye contact never faltered, even as Natsu started to lean closer. She gulped quickly, just as his soft lips pressed against hers and their eyes closed.
The kiss was short, much to Lucy's internal pleads for it to be longer.
Natsu pulled away, once again reconnecting their eyes. His face held a glow, among with his pink dusted cheeks.
He opened his mouth to speak, but before any words could escape, Lucy quickly pulled his mouth to hers once again. Tangling her hand in his salmon hair. Their kiss became more intense; the two laying down on the blanket, straddling eachother, trying to gain dominance.
They pulled away for air; Lucy was straddling Natsu. Her hair creating a curtain around the two in their private moment. She lent down planting one more soft kiss on his oh so delicate lips. The lips she had craved for God knows how long.
"I love you Lucy." Natsu whispered, locking eyes with the beautiful blonde on top of him.
Lucy's heart skipped a beat at his words she never thought she would ever hear.
"I love you too Natsu." Lucy replied, collapsing next to Natsu and placing her head on his chest.
Together, they drifted off to sleep, now at peace with their love for one another.
