What felt like hours to Natsu passed, as he lay silently open-eyed in the makeshift bed.
There was no way he was going to be able to sleep anytime soon, not with Lucy sleeping right across from him.
He was lay on his back, staring blankly at the white ceiling above him, solely thinking. What was he going to do? He couldn't just stay awake all night...
He turned on his side, lifting his head the slightest so he could see Lucy's sleeping figure in her bed. Her tiny snores echoed around the room, indicating she was asleep already. Before he knew it, his heart was racing again. Just by looking at the girl, his body was sent into some kind of shock where he couldn't act normal. He sighed, he had to get over it. She didn't like him that way and he just had to get over her.
Maybe a drink would help?
Natsu persuaded himself to get out, slowing sliding out from his makeshift bed as to not wake up the sleeping beauty at the opposite end of the room.
He dragged himself toward the kitchen, quietly pouring himself a drink and taking a seat at the counter with a sigh. What was wrong with him? Why was he acting like this all of a sudden? He'd known Lucy for years and had managed to control himself but now....
His thoughts crashed to a stop and his body tensed as he felt to hands slide across the top of his shoulders and squeeze.
"Are you not able sleep Natsu?" A sweet voice came from behind him as the hands lingered on his shoulders - sending a hot heat through his body.
"I- uh- no, not really." He stuttered, not wanting to turn around in case she could see his burning red face.
"Hey," She swivelled him around on the chair, giving him no choice but to look her in the eye. "Are you okay?" She asked.
Their gazes locked; Natsu's Adams apple bobbing as he audibly gulped. She looked so beautiful. Her hair cascaded down her back, framing her perfect face. Natsu stared into her sleepy eyes full of concern. As the girl turned him around, she'd replaced her arms on his shoulders, causing Natsu to stiffen even more.
"What's up?" She leaned down closer to Natsu; surely giving him a magnificent view of her chest that he refused to look at. He kept the eye contact. "Is it the bed? Too uncomfortable?"
Natsu reached up his arm to scratch the back of his head.
"Uh... maybe a little." He breathed as her eyes bore into his. His heart rate increasing by the second - he was sure she could hear it.
Lucy pulled away, taking her warm hands from his shoulders and placing them on her hips.
"W-Well, if you really want... I guess you can stay in my bed." She replied, causing Natsu's mind to internally jump with excitement. "I'll stay on the couch."
Oh.
"No! I'm not gonna let you do that Luce!" Natsu compromised, coming up with the perfect plan. "We can both stay in your bed!" He grinned.
"B-Both?" Lucy stuttered, taking a glance at the inviting bed to the side of the room. That thought hadn't crossed her mind... or atleast she didn't want to admit it had.
"Yeah! It's not like we haven't done it before."
"I'm pretty sure that all the times you've sneaked into my bed without me knowing don't count, Natsu..." Lucy said, a small smile playing across her lips.
Natsu jumped up from his chair, grabbing Lucy's hand to drag her to the bed.
"After you." He smiled, laying out his arm toward the bed like a gentleman.
The girl laughed as she climbed into the bed, her cheeks dusted with the slightest pink from Natsu looking down at her. She saw a glint in his eyes that she hadn't seen many times before, causing her to gulp as he began climbing in next to her.
"Well, goodnight Natsu." Lucy whispered as she flicked off the light switch beside her bed. She turned to face away from his, placing her head on the pillow - though her eyes didn't close.
Natsu stayed facing Lucy's back. Heat radiated off her and her sweet scent was surrounding him, making him dizzy.
Before Natsu had time to even think about his actions, he shuffled closer to Lucy, slotting his bent legs under hers in a spooning position. He felt her tense as he draped an arm across her waist, but it didn't stop him from digging his face into her neck and taking in a deep breath.
Lucy's eyes had widened significantly as Natsu moved, but eventually, her stiffened muscles relaxed as he stilled, and she found herself liking the position they lay in. It was warm.
Natsu had noticed as her breathing steadied - she was relaxing under his touch. He grinned, as he decided to go further. He traced his lips against the back of her neck, dainty and delicate. She stiffened again momentarily, until he finally pressed his lips to her neck, nibbling at her exposed skin. She let out a shakey breath, enjoying the feeling so much, yet truly hating it at the same time. Hating it because he was teasting her.
"N-Natsu.." Lucy mewled as the boy sat up a little, getting better access to Lucy's nape. Cold air hit her as he pulled away, and she turned to see his eyes looking into hers.
"Whats up?" He spoke.
How could he act so nonchalant in this situation?
A few moment passed and nothing was said. Their eyes simply remained locked and shallow breaths echoed around the room. Lucy fidgeted, unable to take the feeling anymore.
Her hands reached up, tangling with the salmon hair of the boy leaned over her. She pulled him down, connecting her lips with his in a hot, hungry kiss. Natsu took no time to kiss back, but pressing his chest down against hers as he relaxed into it.
Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined this would happen. Lucy, kissing him? Maybe he was dreaming right now? He thought as the feeling of utter satisfaction washed over him.
Their kiss continued for a little longer in a tangle of moving limbs and skin on skin, but then the need for air overwhelmed them and they pulled apart.
Natsu's arms were on either side of Lucy's head, holding himself up whilst simultaniously locking her down. Lucy's dazed look washed away as realisation kicked in. What had just happened?!
"N-Natsu! I'm so sorry, I- I dont know what - I don't know why I-" But she was silenced as Natsu lent down and planted a soft kiss against her lips. This kiss was more delicate than the heated ones from minutes earlier. He leaned back up, taking off of his hands to grasp her jaw carefully.
"Lucy I..." He started, though a lump in his throat seemed to stop him. She stared at him, wide eyed, unable to process everything that had just happened, whilst he figured out how to form words again.
"I... I really like you."
Her face flushed with colour, burning up to new shades of red. Realistically what Natsu had said was an understatement; he loved the girl and he knew it, but those words still caused Lucy's heart to stop.
"Y-You do..?" She managed to choke out as she stared up at him.
Natsu flopped down beside her, laying on his back to stare up at the ceiling.
"More than anything Luce."
Lucy pulled him toward her yet again. Maybe if she just kissed him, she wouldn't have to worry about how to reply. But he pulled away, his eyes searching hers.
"Aren't you going to say anything back?"
His face wore his signature cheeky grin as he spoke, and Lucy breath caught in her throat at the question.
But then a smile fell onto her face.
"I like you too, silly."
