"FIRE DRAGON... ROAAAR!"

A scorching flame burst from Natsu's mouth as he jumped into the air and aimed his attack at the villain.

The job that the duo, and Happy, had been requested to go on, consisted of taking down an evil thief. The team had waited around at the location he was last sited all evening.

Natsu growled as the man deflected his attack. How could someone possibly deflect such a powerful flame?

"LOKE, GET HIM!" Lucy yelled, pointing toward the man who had began to run away from the fight, down a narrow path that headed the other direction.

Loke jumped into action, along with Natsu in a fury.

"Hey, get back here! You can't just run from a fight like that!" The salamander yelled.

Happy and Lucy ran behind, trying to keep up whilst simultaniously keeping a distance inbetween. They certainly didn't want to get stuck within an angry Natsu rampage.

"Come back here!" Natsu yelled as the thief continued running down a path leading inside the forest.

"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!"

A loud bang echoed through the air as Natsu's fiery fist collided with the thief, with Loke's not far behind. The thief yelled in pain before he fell to the ground unconsious. Natsu knelt down, reaching behind the mans coat and pulling out the pouch of stolen jewels and sticking them in his pocket.

"Hooray! We did it!" Natsu beamed, running toward Lucy and grabbing her waist to spin her around. The pair didnt notice the abnormality of their actions until Happy flew up with a wide smirk saying "you like eachother!"

Thats when Natsu went stiff and released Lucy from his grip.

"My love! Praise me for I have slain the enemy!" Called Lucy's spirit as he knelt down on one knee in front of the girl just as her feet his the floor again.

Loke's heroic antics stole the pairs attention from their awkward moment as Lucy sighed and sent Loke back to the spirit realm.

"Good job, Natsu." The blonde smiled, turning to face him where he stood. "Now lets go get that reward money!" She cheered.

The trio kept a steady pace down the path leading to the requester's house. It had taken them longer than they thought for the thief to make an appearance and the sun was beginning to start its decent into the pinks and purples of the horizon.

Lucy sighed as she stared at Happy flying a few feet ahead of the pair. She still couldn't get her mind off what Gray had said earlier.

He's just drooling over some girl.

Why did it bother her so much? Was she worried that this girl would replace her as his teammate? What if she became Natsu's new bestfriend? Or maybe she was bothered for other reasons? Lucy mentally shook her head. That couldn't be the case. She did not like Natsu in that way. But before Lucy had managed to divert the subject in her head and think of a less brain-frying subject, she had already found her stupid little mouth open and the words pouring out.

"So who's the girl?" Her elbow nudged into Natsu's ribs jokingly, as if playing off the subject as, as careless and unmeaningful she wished it was.

Natsu's face contorted into that of a confused child, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes squinting.

"Eh?" He simply replied, "What girl?"

"You know, the one you were drooling over today." She added, wiggling her eyebrows and bumping her hips to his - her attempts of being fun and carefree once again evident... but failing.
