It was morning.
Another countless morning.
alone.
Her hand reached across to the sheet beside her almost in routine, landing on an empty space in her bed as her heart sank.
How does he leave her breathless, even though he's so far away?
A sigh escaped her lips as she rolled over in her bed. Hands covering her face as she groaned, face contorted as her palms dragged downwards. Why did she have to keep feeling like this!
Who knew it would be so painful just to wake up without him.
A gentle buzz caught the girls attention from her thoughts. The communication lacrima on her bedside table lit up for a short second.
It was a present Natsu had got her not too long ago; he told her maybe if he could remind her in the mornings to wake up they wouldn't keep missing their trains when going on job requests.
Lucy had found herself in quite the habit of oversleeping.
It was a thoughtful gift.. she told herself. For Natsu anyway.
She picked up the lacrima with a frown, knowing her schedule was totally clear today so there was no need for Natsu to be sending her a message. Her sleepy eyes squinted as she looked.
'Good morning.'
Lucy stared at the device, frozen for a split second. Good morning? Natsu has never sent her a good morning before... he only ever text her about the jobs...
'Good morning Natsu? I thought we didn't have a job request today..' She sent back as a reply.
It was almost immediately after that another ding came in Natsu's reply.
'We don't.'
Lucy stared at the message as she sat up in the bed to look at it closer. Then why was he texting her? This was so unlike Natsu. She must have taken too long to reply and another message eventually came through.
'I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you. I hope you had a good sleep.'
Her heart skipped a beat when she read the message. Was she still asleep? This was a dream right? Because this was definitley not Natsu. Or maybe he was pranking her? Grr that boy! She thought, trying to ignore how her heart was racing and she could feel her hands getting clammy.
'Is this a joke...?' She began to type out, but she quickly backspaced and deleted the message before she sent it. I can't send him that.. she thought.
'Thinking of me?' she decided on and quickly hit send before she could have any second thoughts.
'You're always the first thought in my head when I wake up Luce.'
Her hands tightened around the lacrima as she read, pulling her legs up against her chest as the duvet soundlessly fell off and uncovered her bare skin. She felt giddy like a child. Did he really mean all this?
'I am...?'
She sent back, but after a long pause she felt the need to say something more to keep the conversation going. Maybe he was thinking? That's why he was taking so long to reply.
'I was feeling lonely this morning.'
'Thankyou for texting me.'She hit send so fast as her heart raced. She couldn't believe herself right now, why was she being so vulnerable to him. He only said he was thinking about her! What if he just meant in a friendly way? Lucy's thoughts began spinning into doubts as she waited for a reply.
