Chapter 28-

 

Not having a rose was a strange feeling. There was a totally different atmosphere now that I was nervous for the upcoming rose ceremony. I wore a one-sleeved short sparkly gold dress and cream colored wedges. Savannah and Charlotte came in as I was about to head downstairs.

“Hey, Eve told us to tell you there isn’t going to be a cocktail party tonight. We’re going straight into the rose ceremony in ten minutes,” Charlotte told me.

I felt the butterflies in my stomach built up with nervousness. Surprisingly, I actually didn’t want to go home. I wanted a rose, and I thought I would be able to make myself worthy of one at the cocktail party, but now that there wasn’t one, I would just have to hope for the best.

I made myself take deep breaths as I began to head down, I was stopped by one of the cameramen.

“Summer?” he asked cautiously in case I yelled at him again. “Would you mind doing a quick confession for us?”

I didn’t complain this time and agreed to do it. They set up the camera and told me to start whenever I was ready.

“This is my first rose ceremony without already having a rose and I’m really nervous. I didn’t think it would be this nerve-wracking. My date with Zayn was really fun yesterday, although I don’t think we had a romantic connection, it was still fun to hang out with him. He’s really sweet and he’s the kind of guy who would be my best friend. But, my main concern tonight is to get a rose.”

I kind of ran out of things to talk about, so the man just said “Thanks, Summer.” And I left.

I walked to the elevator and it took me down to the lobby where the rose ceremony was. Most of the girls were already there in a big pack in the center of the lobby. I found Ashley, Charlotte, Savannah and Ashley on the outside of the circle. Savannah and Charlotte were both proudly holding their roses in their hands.

Eve was frantically trying to calm us down and listen to her. Eventually she just yelled “QUIET!” and we all hushed to silence.

“Thank you,” she sighed. “This is how tonight is going to work: the boys have each chosen their top three girls. Those of you who already have a rose, you are included in the top three of the guy you got the rose from on your date this week. So, that means next week, the boy who gives you the rose tonight will be visiting your hometown. If you do not receive a rose, as usual you will be leaving straight away.”

I gulped at the last sentence. The last thing I wanted to do was to be on a plane home tonight. We lined up because we were each going to walk in separately so the cameras could film all of us. I was near the end of the line, so I was one of the last ones to join the others on the platforms for the ceremony. I was bouncing up and down with nerves and impatience. Could they just hurry up with this whole thing already?
