Chapter 37-

An excited scream could be heard on the other side of the door. The door opened and Harry’s mom was beaming on the other side. I could immediately recognize her from the pictures of her all over the internet and the cute pictures Harry had shown me of him and his mom.

“Mom, this is Winter,” Harry said as we were entering the air conditioned house.

I punched him gently on the arm. I would have punched him harder if I wasn’t meeting his mother for the first time.

“I’m sorry,” he smirked. “It’s Summer.”

“It’s so nice to meet you Summer,” she said, outstretching her arms for a hug.

“It’s nice to meet you too Mrs—“

“You can call me Anne,” she smiled. “Come right in here so you can meet everyone else.”

She led us through a long complicated hallway into the living room in the back of the house where two unfamiliar faces were standing waiting to greet us.

“Hi Summer, I’m Gemma!” smiled a girl with long blonde hair and Harry’s green eyes.

We embraced and I was introduced to Harry’s stepdad, Robin, who shook my hand. Feeling overwhelmed, I was offered to sit down on the couch to relax.

Harry sat down next to me and threw his arm around my shoulder. Robin and Anne sat on the couch opposite us while Gemma pulled up a chair.

“So Summer,” Anne began. “We want to know everything about you!”

“Okay,” I said. “Well, I like chicken.”

They all laughed and I just smiled nervously.

“How about we start with where you’re from,” Anne suggested.

“Oh, yeah, erm—I’m from Guildford in Surrey.”

“That’s where my grandparents used to live,” Robin announced. “I used to go there every Christmas.”

“Really?” I asked, feeling more comfortable. “Have you gone to the Christmas tree lighting in the square?”

“Every year!” he exclaimed.
