Chapter 43-

I felt confident walking up the path. I knew there was still the possibility that he could choose Belle or decide he didn’t want to be with me. But I was confident in our relationship and even though we may have had some hard times, I knew we were meant to be together. My stomach cringed at the thought of him living happily ever after with her. Excuse my cliché, but all I knew was that I wanted to be with Harry for the rest of my life. I just needed to know he wanted to be with me too.

Every step I took I got more and more nervous. I kept imagining Belle accepting his final rose and nearly throwing up. I wondered if maybe he thought I was so mad at him after storming off the other day at the beach, and would give the rose to Belle over me.

There were plenty of twists and turns until finally, I saw flowers again and realized I was almost there. I got more and more excited to see Harry with every step. My stomach was twisted around with nerves.

I turned a corner and looked up at the platform and my face dropped.

There was nobody there.

I looked over my shoulder and around the platform for any sign of Harry, but I couldn’t find him anywhere. The cameramen were giving me weird signals to keep walking. I eventually stepped onto the platform by myself, wondering where Harry was. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. I was expecting Harry to jump out of nowhere any moment now and scare me, but after a few minutes of waiting, I started to get worried.

My heartbeat sped up dramatically. I had no idea what was going on and where Harry was. I heard the cameramen whispering to each other and I tried to make out what they were saying but I couldn’t understand anything.

So many thoughts went through my mind. Maybe Harry was with Belle right now and had completely forgotten about me. Maybe he was just late. Maybe something happened. I couldn’t think of any good reason why he wasn’t here right now and I was left standing on this platform by myself.

I wanted to leave and go find out what the heck was going on, but the cameramen made sure I stayed where I was. I got impatient and played with my thumbs, twirled my hair around my finger or tapped my foot to keep busy.

Eventually, I looked up when I saw someone emerge from the trees and onto the path. I smiled, glad that Harry was finally here. I tried to squint my eyes because I couldn’t exactly see him because of the sunlight. He got closer and closer and looked less and less like Harry and finally I realized it wasn’t Harry—it was Ryan.

My heart completely plummeted and I was breathing heavily. I prayed nothing happened to Harry and hoped Ryan was only here to tell me that Harry was on his way right now. Ryan walked right up onto the platform with me and did not look like he had good news.
