Nicki finally stopped being mad at me after dinner. We lied in bed, having just taken a shower. Her head was on my chest, arm around my waist, watching tv. I was still a little shook up about what happened with Luke, but I tried to forget about it so Nicki wouldn't be mad again.
"You have work tomorrow?" Nicki asked.
"Just more interviews," I answered.
"Oh."
"Why? What's wrong?"
"I just wanted to spend the day with you. But I guess I'll find something else to do."
"Aw, baby. I wake up at six, and I should be done by two. You're welcome to stay here while I'm at work, okay?"
Nicki nodded, looking up at me. She was so cute to me. I pushed her hair away and kissed her.
"I guess I'll stay. But if Luke comes back, you'll may have to see me behind bars."
"No, Nicki. Hey, how about you come with me again? Because I'm sure you'd do something irrational if he came back."
"Okay. I'm fine with that," Nicki smiled.
I kissed her forehead and we settled back in our positions.
When tomorrow came around, I got up first then woke Nicki up. I smirked to myself for the surprise waiting for Nicki.
"Baby, wake up," I murmured in her ear, while I was fully dressed.
Nicki groaned and turned away from me.
She was really the cutest thing. I began to kiss her face, giggling when she tried to push me away again. When I pressed my lips into hers, she was awake enough to kiss back. Her arms went around my neck as she started to sit up.
"Morning, baby," I greeted, pulling away.
"What time is it?"
"Seven. Now up! Shower and put on something comfy."
"When do your interviews start?"
"You'll see."
Leaving a confused Nicki in bed, I went downstairs and took Jackson outside. It was turning pinkish outside, which was what I was hoping for.
Upstairs, I heard a scream and someone running. Nicki ran into me, grasping my arm.
"Jessie, it's nighttime! We've missed your interviews!"
I laughed and shook my head. "We'll be fine, baby. Just shower and get dressed."
Nicki stared at the sky in disbelief. "Baby, I'm so sorry. I should've woken up and--"
"Go shower!" I pushed her inside, and smacked her butt.
Once Nicki was finished getting ready, I led her to the car and turned it on.
"You have interviews at night?" Nicki asked.
"Um...sorta."
I began driving, occasionally glancing at Nicki. She was watching the city go by out the window. And when the lights became scarce, she turned around to face me.
"Baby?" She questioned.
"Just trust me on this," I said.
"You're not going to kill me, are you?" She chuckled nervously.
"I could never. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Just confused. Where is this interview at?"
I smirked at her. "You'll see. You'll like it, I swear."
We drove a few more minutes in silence. Then Nicki sighed. "We slept the whole day...The whole day..."
"Amazing how exhausted we are, huh?" I questioned with a smile.
"Physically and emotionally, yeah."
I reached over and took her hand in mine in comfort. She squeezed back softly as I stroked the back of her hand with my thumb.
"Jessica?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you imagine us...you know...ever getting married?" She hesitantly asked.
A small smile made it's way on my face. "All the time, Nick. Owning a house together, having kids, having your last name. There's never a day I don't think about it."
"No, we're having your last name," Nicki said.
"Maraj isn't a bad name!"
"Do you really want our children to have that last name?"
I shrugged.
"No, yours is better. Especially if you carry them. Oh my god, think about how cute you would look! All pregnant with our kids! It'll be so adorable, Jess! You know, minus the moods swings and such..."
Nicki continued with fangirling over me being pregnant and how our kids would look. I glanced over from time to time to watch her and how adorable she was. And there was one particular time where I just watched her, and she gazed into my eyes. She was so beautiful to me, and I wondered how I managed to capture this amazing woman.
"I--" I began to say, but a loud honk pulled me away from Nicki's beautiful face. I swerved away from in front of the truck, unfortunately driving off the road. I slammed on brakes, but something stopped the car abruptly, and I hit my head on the steering wheel pretty hard before rocking back.
"....Jess...." I heard feebly beside me. Then I felt a hand hold mine before I blacked out...
