*Fantasy*
He clutched his bow in defeat, his knees the earth. There was no hope left. One could not conquer that many beasts on his own.
His only regret was not saying goodbye. His little girl would forever wonder where her father was. Was it her fault he did not return? Did he not love her and her mom anymore? Those thoughts tortured him as the beasts circled closer.
This was it, the end.
A sudden warmth came over him and he slumped back, hitting a soft fabric he felt on the back of his neck.
A quiet muttering graced his ears, the sound so much nicer than the crude voices and snarling of beasts he had grown accustomed to.
A delicate hand rested on his shoulder as a light emitted from behind him. How he wanted to turn and see who or what stood by him, but he felt as though his energy had been sapped.
The beasts surrounding them hissed and kept at a distance as the soft chanting grew louder. The strong, feminine voice banishing them from entering the clearing of light.
It was not long before the beasts were gone, having given up on the futile chase and the voice stopped. Silence surrounding them aside from the quiet murmurs of the forest as it breathed.
He struggled against his own body as it fought to rest. His energy was completely gone, and he was still not safe.
Warmth still seeped into his back, making his eyes droop all the more.
"Sleep." A honey-like voice tinkled in his ear like a bell as he finally gave in, his eyes shutting and his mind drifting off into the land of dreams.
