She peered out from behind the trunk of a tree, her white hair flowed softly down her back. Different brightly colored leaves creating a beautiful backdrop.
He was so close yet so far away. He would never come to know of her, no human ever would.
She smiled as she watched him from afar, his hat tall and magnificent making him look strong and confident.
His dog padded beside him, nose and tail held high.
She couldn't help herself as she crept closer, her friend anxiously following her footsteps. While humans could not see her, animals could easily see past all the spells set in place against humans.
She ignored the warnings in her head as she ducked behind another tree, her friend copying her.
A giggle left her lips when she watched the man look around but a sad feeling washed through her as his eyes quickly passed her by.
Her smile fled her lips and she retreated, a thankful fox at her heels. She was foolish to think he would see her when she knew he would not.
With one last glance towards him she disappeared into the forest, not noticing the way his eyes lingered on her previous spot longer than anywhere else, a look of longing and sadness on his face which closely resembled her own.
