*Humour/Romance*

I chuckled as I slowed my pickup down to the pace of the woman stubbornly matching alongside the road. She was sweating profusely, it was obvious she had been outside for a while.

Nothing made me more thankful for the AC in my truck than seeing things like this.

Her eyes flashed to me quickly before she focused ahead of her once more, her eyes squinting in the sunlight as stands of her hair stuck to her flushed face.

Still driving at an achingly slow pace I reached over the passenger seat to roll down the window.

I could feel the cool contents of my truck beginning to seep out, quickly being replaced with hot, humid air. Geez, how could this girl handle it?

She glanced at me again, a bit more cautiously.

I couldn't help but smirk as she pulled the sweaty cloth that was sticking to her chest away from her body, she looked miserable.

"You look hot," I commented. I raised my hand in greeting as she looked my way once more. The corners of her lips curled upwards in amusement and I caught a glimmer of mischief her eyes before she turned back to the road.

"Thanks," I heard the humor in her words and I chuckled, shaking my head slightly. My eyes drifted to the road to make sure I want going to hit anyone or drive off the road and I looked back at her.

"That wasn't what I had meant," it really want what I had meant, that didn't mean I didn't think she was good on the eyes, just from the side of her face I could tell she was quite the looker.

Her Rudy brown hair was pulled back from her neck and face revealing a round head with a small nose. Her blue eyes were an almond shaped and were lined with black eyeliner.

"I know what you meant," she didn't look at me as she spoke. She ruffled through her satchel and emptied a bottle of water, her face scrunched up in distaste as she realized it was warm.

She wore faded jeans and a cute farmsie t-shirt. It was grey and long, reaching just below her waist and effectively covering her butt. There was a calf drinking from its mother while a farmer milked her, beneath the colourful image were the words; Milk . . . It's The Real Thing.

She scowled and tossed her now empty bottle into her bag and rubbed her neck.

She was already very tan, close to burning and she looked exhausted.

"Why don't you hop in and enjoy my AC. We're already heading in the same direction, might as well," I offered, raising my hands as if to say why not.

She smirked and shook her head.

"What, get in a truck with a stranger in the middle of nowhere? No thanks."

"Actually, you're not in the middle of Nowhere, you're in the middle of Texas," I chuckled as she sent me a lighthearted glare. I could see she was holding back a smile.

"The way I see it, you have two choices. One, keep walking the five miles before the next farmhouse you'll come across probably accumulating sunburn and heatstroke with maybe another bottle of warm water. Or two; you can hop into the truck with a friendly stranger that is offering AC and cold water. Now, what do you say?"

As she came to a stop, so did I. I could see her thinking and smiled brightly as she did the smart thing and pulled herself into my truck.

I started driving as she buckled herself in.

"There's a cooler behind my seat, help yourself."

She stretched from where she sat and I couldn't help but admire her body. Her shirt was snug and her jeans tight, her satchel was on her lap blocking the image of her stomach as her shirt rose slightly.

As she recoiled and popped a Bud Light my eyes found their way back to the road.

I cleared my throat and addressed her.

"So, what's your name?"

"What's yours?"

"I asked first."

"You're a stranger."

"So are you."

"Fine. My name, my business."

I chuckled and glanced at her quickly.

"Okay, fair enough. My name's Parker, nice to meet you Ma'am." I tipped my hat and gave her my most dazzling smile I could conjure. In response she laughed, covering her face with her hand, her eyes shining merrily.

"So, Hot Stuff, where are you headed?"

"'Hot Stuff?'" She questioned, her amused eyes flashing a glare in me direction but failing miserably.

"I could call you by your name if I knew it," I prodded.

"Hmm, that's a shame you don't." She chuckled and looked down to her lap.

"I'm headed to Blue River Ranch," she provided.

I nodded, already knowing which ranch she was talking about. It was a fairly popular one in fact.

A thought came to mind.

"Was that your car about a mile back?" I asked, noticing her blush.

"Yeah, that piece of junk left me stranded out in the heat with no reason whatsoever."

"How long have you been out here?"

"About three hours, maybe? I haven't been walking the entire time, for a while I was attempting to get that damn thing to work or waiting for a car I could flag down for some help."
