*Supernatural/Broken Home*
"'And Rabbit said'- are you even listening?" The little girl asked. The room was dark, rain pounding on the window pane, thunder loud and ominous.
All that was in the room was a rocking chair and a coat rack holding one jacket much too large for the little girl.
She set her book down and looked at the jacket. Over the spattering rain she could hear her parents cease their yelling, a slamming door soon followed by the retreating headlights of her father's car as he left to go cool off.
She neared the window, watching her father drive off, wondering if this was the time he wouldn't come back.
She knew her mother would be downstairs trying to quell her emotions. It's always dangerous to be in her presence at this time of night.
The girl shook her head, turning back to the jacket.
"Hello? Are you still here?" She received no response.
She pulled open the jacket only to see it empty, and her little heart fell.
He had left her.
He had promised he would stay.
She was alone.
She sniffed back a cry and wiped her nose. Maybe he'll come back. Maybe mommy will cone say goodnight instead.
With hopeful thoughts she settled back onto the rocking chair, hugging the book to her chest as she waited for whoever was coming.
Though time dragged on and no one came. Her eyelids fell heavy with her heart.
Just as sleep took over she felt herself being lifted, a soft whisper in her ear; "I haven't left, dear. You are not alone"
She smiled and snuggled further into his embrace.
"I love you Mr Bogey."

Hey! It's been a while. I'm planning on trying something new, and I'm gonna try my best. What I want to do is post a short story (whether I'm happy with it or not) at least once a day. I'm going to do my best to make it interesting and well written but I've kind of fallen out of my writing habits recently and this is me trying to get back on track.
Wish me luck!
Ciao
