RECAP
There dad was.
With one of those desperate women from the neighborhood sitting on his lap.
Neither of them noticed that we walked in because they were too busy kissing.
Eric's P.O.V. (continued)
Without a word mom walked up to them and pushed the woman down onto the floor. That's when they they realized they had an audience. Mom slapped dad across the face with so much anger put into it. Yep, it left an ugly red hand print on his cheek.
"Does a relationship that lasted fifteen years mean absolutely nothing to you?!" She shouted, "So this is what you do every time you 'suggest' we go to the park!" Rage and hurt flashed in her eyes but instantly they became cold. "Kids go pack some clothes, we're going to stay at Auntie Sophie's house for a while."
We headed to our rooms without speaking to each other about what we just saw. Of course being the oldest I made sure to check that Daniel and Jessica had everything they'd need to bring. We didn't know exactly how long we'd be away so I made sure to pack their extra clothes in case. While double checking all the things, we'd ocasionally hear muffled sobs coming from our parents room.
When mom came into the room to get us her eyes were red and puffy from crying, yet other than that, no emotion gave away the fact that she just witnessed her husband cheating on her in her own home. Other than the tear stains on her cheeks, she stood tall as if to show us that she's strong. Or maybe she's just trying to prove to herself that she's strong. Dad on the other hand didn't hide his emotions as well, he was hunched over on the couch sobbing. When he heard mom walk into the living room he looked at her with regret and guilt. Dad look terrible but he deserves this, he wrecked this family and now it was time to leave.
"Please don't leave me Karen... I can make it up to you. Please just don't leave me, I know i messed up big time but please, this is my family too and you can't just take that away from me. You of all people should know how much I love this family." He spoke out in a rush as if saying this would change things.
"Answer me this Adrian, how long have you been with all these women? If you expect me to stay with you then you better give me a damn honest answer." Hope shone in her eyes, hopeful he hadn't been doing this for too long. If mom forgives dad, what am I going to do? Just forgive him and act like he didn't just kill our family bond?
Guilt overtook his expression once again.
"Karen does it really matter how long this has been going on? I love you and not those women, isn't that all that matters?"
"Adrian." Her voice sounded stern and somewhat demanding, yet anyone could take one glance at her and know right away that she is breaking. "If you want me to even consider still living here then you'll have to tell me. I need to know how long my husband has been with other women behind my back."
Dad looked away and glanced down guiltily. A single tear rolled down mom's cheek. Her heart is shattering. How could dad do this to us?! We're a family! Doesn't that mean anything anymore?!
"Remember I got a call from my uncle that caused me to go out more?" Mom nodded cautiously not knowing where this was going. "My mother decided to confess to my father that I wasn't his child, that I was the child of another man. She thought it would be good to finally let him know." He sighed and stared at mom with this broken look in his eyes. "My father was devistated then out of pure rage he hit her. From then on he abused her daily and the worst part is, she let him. She thought it was all her fault for ruining their marriage. He soon became a hateful bitter man and said I was the mistake that was made out of lust. He was angry that he didn't have anyone to call his child. He took everything worse than it actually was, he focused on all the negatives of any given situation.” He paused and averted his gaze towards the floor, his eyes glassy and haunted. “My uncle called to tell me that they had died in a car crash. The car went off a cliff up in the mountains when they went out on a camping trip. After that I couldn't handle things and became an alcoholic. I never told you guys this but, I came into work drunk and the chief fired me.That involved the desperate women, it was the only way I could get the money."
The room became deathly quiet.
"You never answered my question Adrian." She sighed with closed eyes.
"This started two years ago." Dad looked away and grabbed fistfuls of his hair. "I never stopped loving you! I know its not a good excused but I'm not perfect! Karen, this family is my rock, my anchor, take away that away from me and you might as well take away my life!"
It was too late though. It was way too late. He's gone way too deep to get out of what he's done.
He got involved with all these women and he didn't even tell us that he lost his job. Well that explains why women always come over.
