Eric's P.O.V.
Aunt Sophie was a kind woman who never married because she devoted her life to everything good. She worked as a doctor that frequently traveled around the world to help people in need. Her house was big so she could enjoy her time at home. Other than that she donated money to charities and is currently in the process of adopting a little girl from the orphanage close by. Her name is Marlene and she is about the same age as Jessica, maybe even a year older. Aunt Sophie and mom were very close despite being "sister rivalry". People usually complain how annoying their siblings are and how clingy and obnoxious they are but mom and Aunt Sophie were more like best friends who stuck together no matter what drama tried to wedge its way between them. Despite Aunt Sophie being five years older, they both looked to be in their early twenties. They both went through hell with their family when they were younger; they only had each other and got through all those obstacles. That’s why Aunt Sophie would rather adopt a child that has nothing; she understands how it feels to lose everything. She's a caring person, she understands thing on a deeper level because of what she went through.
As soon as we got to my aunt’s house mom broke down as the huge wave of emotion hit her. No questions asked Sophie let us inside and took mom to the couch and let her cry while petting her hair. Mom rarely cried because she went through hell already, she’s been through so much that things don’t really phase her. Sophie was just whispering calming things to mom and doing her best to distracts us from the situation.
“Kids, how about you guys go pick out your rooms? I have some toys that Jessica can play with in one of the rooms.” Sophie said, “Oh and I’ll bring snacks once I'm done with your mother."
We walked upstairs and picked out our own rooms, mine had a window that held a picture perfect view of a beautiful sunset. Daniel picked his room because it was closest to Jessica’s and had plenty of books. Jessica got the smaller pastel colored room that is set up for Marlene. Daniel decided to stay and play with Jessica so I could look around the house a bit more. We've only been in this house a couple of times so might as well get comfortable with the place. Since our home is no longer ours.
The second floor had a nice office where Aunt Sophie kept bills and business stuff I guess along with a coat closet. Daniel’s room was down the hall closer to the stairs and across from Jessica. There was an open living room across the hall with a flat screen hung on the wall with two comfy looking couches and throw blankets and pillows on top of a bin in the corner by the TV. Mom would always come over here after a fight with my dad; maybe they had movie nights together. Aunt Sophie’s room has a walk in closet, the room is pretty big and has its own flat screen and king size bed and its own bathroom. My room has its own bathroom but Daniel and Jessica will be sharing the hallway bathroom. Downstairs is mainly the kitchen, downstairs living room, another guest room and a bathroom. The backyard was the best part of living here! There’s a hammock and a giant swimming pool and still enough room for a play set for Marlene and a tree house since the three of us begged Aunt Sophie to let us build one but there wasn’t enough time so she got one built perfectly in her backyard. Lucky Daniel also got the window that faced the backyard so he has easier access to our bridge set up on the side of the house. Mom still doesn’t know about the bridge because we all know she won’t let us use it because it's “dangerous”. She doesn't go into the backyard as often so we're fine with our secret tree house.
Daniel was the closest to Aunt Sophie so he was pretty much spoilt by her. She loved us “equally” but we all knew that she loved Daniel more.
"Eric I brought your favorite." She came upstairs with three cups of chocolate chip ice cream. Yum.

Its been a month, Jessica's fourth birthday passed. Dad used to call everyday crying on the phone and constantly trying to apologize to mom. Eventually he stopped calling because mom threatened to not allow dad to see us again. The divorce is taking longer than they thought so dad is trying to use this opportunity to try and win her back.

Its been two months. Dad will occasionally call completely drunken. He will sometimes threaten and that's when mom decided to never answer his calls again.
Jessica and Daniel were doing fine without dad. Sometimes they'd be sad and want to see dad because they miss the man they used to admire so much. He used to be the perfect father and husband but he ruined all chances of ever being considered my father the moment he cheated.
It was a normal day, or so we thought. Jessica was playing with her new toys and Daniel was taking a nap on the other couch. Mom and Aunt Sophie were watching some chick flick, wow they've gotten even closer. We haven't heard for dad for two days. Hopefully that was the last call.
"Open the fucking door bitches! I'm here to take back what's mine!"
Nobody moved because we all knew that voice. This entire time he never visited but to have him banging on the door throwing threats left and right frightned all of us. Especially because she sounded completely drunk. An angry drunk man thats lost everything and recently developed a bad temper can only lead to no good.
