Eric's P.O.V.
It was a normal day, or so we thought. Jessica was playing with her new toys and Daniel was taking a nap on the other couch. Mom and Aunt Sophie were watching some chick flick; wow they've gotten even closer. We haven't heard for dad for two days. Hopefully that was the last call.
"Open the fucking door bitches! I'm here to take back what's mine!"
Nobody moved because we all knew that voice. This entire time he never visited but to have him banging on the door throwing threats left and right frightened all of us. Especially because she sounded completely drunk. An angry drunk man that lost everything and recently developed a bad temper can only lead to no good.

Mom looked calm but Aunt Sophie on the other hand looked uneasy and nervous. I mean if I wasn’t so worried for my family I'd probably be scared as well.
"Mom what do I do?" My main priority was to keep my family safe. Who cares that dad could totally kill me; I just wanted my family to stay safe. So I trusted on instincts and did the first thing that came to mind, hide.
"Daniel. Wake up!" I shook him till he sat up with an annoyed expression. "Dude no time for arguing and go take Jessica and hide in one of the rooms." Daniel just sat there completely confused about what was going on.
"Go! Dad is here! Take Jessica and GO. I'll find you after he leaves but we can't take any chances nodded and picked up Jessica and dashed up the stairs. Now time to call the police before the psychopath breaks down the door.
"OPEN THE GOD DAMN DOOR KAREN!! I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL BREAK DOWN THIS FUCKING DOOR IF YOU BITCHES DON'T OPEN IT!"
Aunt Sophie tried to get to the phone but mom grabbed her wrist to stop her. Too much was happening at once that my head was spinning. I feel so helpless, all I could do is stand here and watch. Mom stopped Aunt Sophie for a reason that I couldn't understand. Dad cheated, mom was doing perfectly fine, we were all getting better but here mom was, stopping the person the loved the most from calling the police on a man who could hurt us all.
"I'm going to open the door Sophie. You should just go up to your room so Adrian and I could talk this out. These last two months have been unbelievably painful without Adrian; I thought I had finally accepted it and was ready to move on because of what he did but honestly, I'm not ready to just throw away this marriage."
"Trust me Karen, we need to call the police before he kills all of us. He's drunk and dangerous!"
"He won't hurt us, we're his family."
"THINK OF YOUR KIDS KAREN!" Aunt Sophie was obviously failing at getting through to mom.
"He won't hurt our children Sophie, I'm going to answer the door and you can't stop me."
Mom got up; ignoring Aunt Sophie's horror filled expression and opened the door. Dad looked horrible, his hair was matted down by sweat, his eyes looked hollow and his clothes were crumpled. Not to mention he smelt of alcohol and cigarettes. His usual charm and good looks died with his motivation to live. He called once to say that he was going to kill himself because he has nothing to live for anymore. Mom merely called a counselor and told him the situation and viola! Problem solved. Obviously that’s not the case now.
"Karen, it's about damn time you opened that door! We're not splitting up! Am I not allowed to make mistakes?!"
Oh did I forget to mention my dad is an angry drunk? Well he once beat me till I became unconscious because I didn't finish my chores. Thankfully he only hit me so I was fine with the beating. Better me than my siblings.
