Amy's POV
The journey in the back of the ambulance with mom, Lisa, and Dani seems like it lasts for hours, but it was only 8 minutes. We jerk to a halt and the doors are flung open. I had a panic attack earlier but I feel calm now; I need to be strong for my family. After Lisa and Dani are lifted out we get out and see the rest of our family, and we greet each other quickly before going to the waiting room.
They are going to be operated on together, so all we can do now is wait.
Mom and dad soothe the little boys to sleep whilst the rest of us get food and listen to music. I listen to Demi Lovato's album DEMI and the words mean so much to me as I listen to Warrior. I slowly drift off to sleep, it was nearly midnight.
'Amy. Amy!' I hear Christina calling my name and I wake upa nd check the time. 1am. I look up to a doctor standing in the corridor. Joey wakes up and then we all go to a room like the one before when it was just Dani. We anxiously sit down and the doctor begins to speak: 'Dani has a deep cut on her right thigh, so that is in a cast. She is also extremely tired, though she will wake up soon. She has crutches to move around on. Lisa, however, is worse. Her left leg is broken in three places and the bone in her left arm is very weak as well, meaning both are in casts. We aren't quite sure how this happened, but her vocal chords have been torn.'
I looked to Kath on my left, The entire family were thinking the same thing; can Lisa sing? I swallowed and spoke, 'Um, will Lisa be able to sing?' I asked hopefully. I saw the look of sadness and despair flash across the doctors face, and a lump built in my throat. He started to speak, 'I'm very sorry, but it was a very deep tear. At the moment, Lisa cannot talk. It is very painful for her, and we don't know whether she will ever be able to sing again. Also Lisa is in a mild coma at the moment. But you can see Dani.' Mom nodded and said thank you, then he left.
She turned to us once he left the room. 'Right, kids. Me, Amy, Christina, Alex, lets go see Dani. We'll call the rest in.' Dad nodded to her and they hugged quickly for strength. Then mom led us to Dani's room. She knocked on the door and then we went in. Dani looked ok, but she had deep circles underneath her eyes.
Dani smiled when she saw us and we rushed over to hug her. We then sat on chairs and asked how she was feeling, 'I'm ok, tired, and my leg hurts a little bit. But I'm ok. What about Lisa? Is she ok? What happened?'
I bit my lip and didn't want to answer Dani, but I was the only one that really knew what happened. 'Lisa went up to the cliff, to get you down, but you fainted. Lisa carried you down, damaging her left leg and arm on the way, then she collapsed when she got to me at the bottom. Then you came here. The doctor said you've hurt your leg, and you're exhausted, but otherwise ok.' Dani slowly nodded and I felt tears prick at my eyes. My next words came out strangely because of the tears threatening to fal. 'Lisa broke her left leg and arm, she tore her vocal chords so at the moment she can't talk, and she is in a short coma now.' I looked up and Dani's face was expressionless, staring blankly at the white wall behind me.
'Dani?' Christina said, 'You ok?' Dani snapped out of it and I now saw sadness, guilt, and regret in her eyes. 'I'm ok. It's just. It's all my fault. If I hadn't been up there this would never have happened. Now Lisa's in a-a coma and she can't t-talk. It was me.' Dani started crying and Christina and I comforted her. After a few minutes everyone else came in and we all had a family hug which made Dani feel better, but we all knew it wasn't the same without Lisa. I decided to go to her room next door.
I wiggled out of the hug and pointed to next door to mom. She nodded and waved and so I left. I came to Lisa's door and opened it quietly. Lisa was sleeping so I went over and made sure her duvet was comfy and I gently brushed her hair and put it into a plait. I got a flannel, wet it and washed her face. I then sat on her bed and stroked her hair whilst singing our song 'Wings'. Once I finished I held her hand and talked to her. After half an hour of listening to my iPod and thinking, I thought I should go back to my family.
