Annie
Chapter 20: Sister
After Katarina had finished telling her story, we sat silently while my eyes stared at her with cold daggers. I couldn't believe what I just heard.
"So let me get this straight. They weren't bandits after all. They were shopkeepers who were after you because you stole something to give to your brother for his present?" Katarina nodded in response as I facepalm in frustration. "What the hell Kat? Why didn't you just bought the damn thing and none of this would've happened." Katarina shrugged in disinterest as she played with her daggers with her fingers.
"I'm not spending any money just to give a gift to my brother. Also, the gift was way too expensive so I decided to not buy it and steal it instead." Her logic made no sense whatsoever. I wanted to punch her so bad in the face right now. But then again, I couldn't be mad at her because she did save me from them. I sighed as I looked at her with a soft smile.
"Thanks." Katarina stopped playing with her blades to face me in confusion.
"For what? For stealing the gift and causing the bandits to nearly kill us?" I laughed at her stupid question.
"N-no, that's what I am thanking you for. I just wanted to thank you for saving me back there." Katarina looked away from me in thought as she hid her eyes with her red hair. "If you hadn't saved me back there, it would have been over for me."
"You don't have to thank me kiddo, " I noticed that Katarina hadn't moved from her position. She still hid her eyes from her hair and a sad frown. I reached out to her and hugged her, causing her to flinch in surprise. "W-what do you think you're doing?"
"It's my thank you sibling hug for you, sis." She turned even more surprised when I called her "sis".
"Sis?" I nodded as she smiled softly and stroked the top my head. "I guess you can call me that. We stared each other silently for a moment until we heard twigs snapping, causing us to turn our heads to the sound. "Quick, duck." I tried to get up but the sharp pain in my ribs started to hurt as I almost fell if Katarina hadn't been there to catch me. She caught me and dragged me to the ground, pushing me close to her in comfort and safety. The pain grew as my body wanted me to scream in pain as if I was suffering. Katarina covered my mouth with her hand to prevent me from screaming.
A deep voice that belonged to a man was heard. "I swore I saw his sister here. I saw her sitting right there by that tree."
"Noxians," Katarina whispered as she looked down at me worriedly.
"Well, I guess she's not here anymore. Let's head back before Darius gets angry at us,". Definitely Noxians. Why was Darius trying to hunt down Katarina? The sound of the footsteps was fading and Katarina took off her hand from my mouth.
"Are you okay?" I nodded at her as Katarina gets up. "Look kiddo. You need to go home. It's too dangerous out here now."
"What about you?" Katarina stayed quiet for a moment as turned away from me. I had no idea what she was thinking right now. I walked approach closer to her. "Kat?"
"I'm saving Talon alone." I widen my eyes in shock, but my emotion was now filled with rage.
"I'm not letting you." Katarina gripped one of her daggers quickly but did not take it out from her possession.
"I have to do this, Annie. If you plan to stop me, then you will face the consequences." For some odd reason, I was filled with determination, allowing me to stand up against Katarina. I wasn't afraid of her threats anymore.
"I won't fight you even if you try to hurt me. I'm not letting you go alone. Let me go with you!" Katarina turned to me with a sad look as her pretty emerald eyes that looked like mine soften.
"I'm sorry Annie, but I can't bring you with me. I don't want to see you hurt like last time. It hurts me when I see you hurt," My heart melted by her sweet words. I never heard something so sweet from Katarina. I wanted to run up and hug her like Tibbers so bad but that would be awkward at this moment.
"I don't want to see you hurt either. You just became a sister to me moments ago, but don't want to to lose her on the first day." Katarina stayed silent as she stood there like a statue thinking about something. "Please, sis. I'm begging you." I tried everything I could to persuade her to bring me. I pouted and gave her an innocent look. Katarina closed slowly and looked away with a tired sigh.
"Fine. Promise me you won't get hurt, okay?" I was surprised by her soft gentle words of worriedness. I have to admit, I think Katarina really cares about me. "Alright, let's go before the sun rises," I smiled gleefully.
"Alright. I love you, sis." I don't know if it was me or not but I saw Katarina's cheeks turn pink as she tried to hide it casually.
"T-thanks Annie."
