"Oh my-" Hadley started.
"Hadley don't make me regret-"
"You guys-" Kate started to ask with widened eyes.
"Kate," I said, my tone warning.
"No way," Hadley muttered, her tone full of disbelief.
"You like him," they both then said, in unison. I groaned, and slammed my head against the cool cafeteria table, squishing my lunch. I didn't know why I bothered bringing it in the first place.
Probably because my mom would kill me if I didn't.
"I. Don't. Like. Him," I enunciated, as both of them smirked at me.
"You don't like who?" Asher asked from behind me, as my face colored itself red. I shot Kate and Hadley both death glares, and turned around to face Asher.
"You, obviously," I muttered, my face blank of any emotion.
"And why are you talking about me?" he smirked.
"We're not talking about you. We're scheming against you," I told him, turning around to face my friends. I could feel a movement behind me, and my throat closed up when I felt him sit next to me.
"You like me," he whispered in my ear softly, his lips millimeters away from my earlobe, "and even if you don't now, you will soon."
"Asshole," I muttered, and shoved him away from me. Hadley and Kate both stared at us with amused looks on their faces, and I felt myself turn even more red.

"And you want to get him back for almost kissing your neck?" Hadley asked. I nodded vigorously.
"He made the game sexual, I'll play the game sexual," I told both of them confidently. "Wait, no, that made no sense. Never mind. But you get what I mean."
"So what? You're going to almost kiss his neck?" Kate asked me sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at her.
"No, I'm going to do worse," I assured her. As we reached my locker I turned to say goodbye to them, but Kate gave me a serious look.
"Just don't fall in love," she told me, before both of them walked off in the direction of their lockers.

And I was walking to the library again.
But this time I had a game plan.
And I just knew he couldn't resist coming to the library again.
But this time, I was ready for him.
I walked past Jace after mumbling a quick "hello," and I wound up in the romance section. I peered at the names of the novels, my fingers mindlessly stroking the spines of books I had read, memories I had had, lives that I had lived. I continued to walk aimlessly down the aisle, until I found a small book that I hadn't read yet. It was wedged between two copies of If I Stay, and was hidden to everyone who wasn't looking for it.
I quickly walked over to Jace, and gave him the book. He looked up at me from the book I had seen him reading earlier, through his glasses.
"Good, you're still alive. I thought you got lost and died by the amount of time you were taking in that one section," he said while scanning the book simultaneously.
"I'm not that directionally challenged," I scowled, as Jace smirked.
"Yeah-" he started.
"That was one time! And it wasn't my fault that someone gave me the wrong map!" I exclaimed, and Jace's smirk grew bigger.
"You're the one who picked the map for the aquarium instead of the zoo. And then you 'accidentally' lost the group, so all of us had to give up our lion spotting time to come look for you," Jace told me, turning back to his book.
"Well, you could've just left me there to die," I huffed.
"It wasn't my choice," he assured me, once again, not bothering to wait for my response, and sunk back into his book. I rolled my eyes, and walked over to one of the empty tables in the middle of the room. I slunk into the seat, dropping my bag onto the floor next to me. I opened the book, and absorbed myself in the novel.

"Waiting for me?" I heard a voice ask from my right. I rolled my eyes, as I tore my eyes away from the page I was reading.
"Of course," I flashed him a fake smile, placing my pencil in between the pages to act like a bookmark. Asher smirked, as he sat down, in the seat to my right.
Exactly where I had wanted for him to sit. I smirked internally.
"What're you reading?" he asked me, curiously, and I showed him the book cover.
"Nice," he stated.
"I need a bookmark," I thought out loud, and I glanced at my backpack next to him for a fleeting second.
Then I sucked up my pride and did it.
I leaned over him, and I felt him stiffen up. Tentatively, I placed my hand on his leg, and I could feel his leg freeze under my touch. I felt my smirk growing bigger.
I continued to lean over him, and quickly grabbed my bag from the other side, and slowly withdrew my hand from where it was resting. I felt his hand clasp around my arm roughly, and he pulled me up so I was looking at him.
"What was that?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
"I reached over you to grab my bag?" I asked him innocently.
"Kara," he said my name like a warning. I smirked.
"Your move," I grinned, grabbing my bag and jacket, and shouting a quick goodbye to Jace.
