I bit his bottom lip hesitantly as he pressed me up against the wooden counter behind me and sighed contently into my mouth. His minty breath washed over me, soothing me, but sending jolts of electricity through me, all the same. My hands warily slid up from his neck to tangle themselves in his hair. He moved his mouth from mine slowly, pushing back my hair and pressing slow and tender kisses down my jawline and neck. I could feel the tingling sensation increase, left in the trail of his kisses. I moaned quietly, although I tried my best to suppress it, and he chuckled, drawing away from me.

"Kara! This is a library!" Hadley screeched, whacking me on the head with a flimsy paperback book that was residing in her hands. It didn't hurt, but I rubbed my hand against the spot where she hit me, and frowned at her.

"There's no one here," I shrugged, and she looked at me with widened eyes.

"I'm here! I don't want to see you two making out while I'm trying to find a romance novel to fill the void of romance in my life!" she exclaimed, her nose crinkling in disgust.

"Didn't you just go on a date last night?" I questioned her.

"Anyways," she continued ignoring me completely, "how am I supposed to check out the books if you're claiming the librarian?"

"Claiming the librarian?" I asked her, with raised eyebrows.

"Librarian?" Jace asked her at the same time.

"Yes. You, Kara, are claiming the one who works here, at the library, by making out with him," Hadley answered both of us.

"Well, I only work at the library. I'm not the librarian," he told Hadley, taking my hand absentmindedly, pressing his lips against it.

"Same thing," Hadley rolled her eyes, handing Jace the book she had selected. Jace quickly took and her library card (I was surprised she actually had one) and inputted the information into the computer. He handed both of the things back to her, and his hand slid from my hand to wrap around my waist.

"I think I'll close up now," he mumbled in my ear, and I smiled up at him.

"So how's it going? With Jace?" Hadley asked me, grinning crazily.

"Great. We just keep making out. That's it. It isn't anything more. I don't know if I want it to be anything more," I told her, frustration coloring my tone.

"Why aren't you sure?" Kate asked me then, her eyes holding confusion and a little bit of amusement. I was seriously considering the fact that Kate might be a sadist.

"I don't know," I admitted, grabbing my lunch from my locker. All of us then headed for the cafeteria, towards our regular table. As soon as we were all seated, Hadley changed the conversation topic to her visit to Dartmouth over the last weekend. She went on, gushing about the campus, the hot guys, and the classes.

I zoned out after a while, because I had already decided my college, NYU, and been accepted, so I didn't want to doubt my choices. After a while, I got bored of staring at my lunch bag, so I did something completely out of character. I opened my lunch bag.

The stench hit me before I actually saw, or thank goodness, touched it. It smelled like wet pavement, mud, and earth all mixed into one. It smelled like worms.

It was worms.

Safe to say, I screamed. And then fell backwards. With my chair.

"Ow," I groaned, as I picked myself up off of the ground slowly, feeling everyone's eyes on me.

"You okay?" a voice asked me softly, Jace, and he placed his hands on my waist lightly.

"Yeah," I mumbled, eyeing my lunch bag in fear and disgust. It had to be Asher. Right? I glanced at my lunch bag once again, and saw a little paper stuck to the side of my lunch bag. I looked more closely, carefully, and saw what was on it.

"Asher?" Jace asked me.

"Asher," I confirmed.

Time to plan revenge. Again.

And this time it was going to be worse.

Much worse.
