"I am going to fucking kill you Asher," I cussed loudly, throwing all of my weight on his body, not letting him come up to breathe from after being submerged.
"Kara!" I heard a scream from behind me, and I whipped my head to glare at Jace.
"You can't talk me out of it!" I screeched back, a fierce expression crossing my face. Then I screamed, as Asher pulled me down with him.
Water flooded my mouth before I managed to clamp it shut, and I stared wide eyed at Asher as we both sank to the bottom of the pool.
He quickly grabbed me by the waist, kicking us up back to the surface of the water. As soon as we both reached the surface, gasping for air, he quickly let go of me.
As his arm left mine, I felt a little part of my heart crumble.
No.
I couldn't.
I shouldn't.
I shook my head, splashing droplets of water on Asher, my small frame shuddering.
"Kara, are you okay?" I heard Jace whisper in my ear, as he wrapped his arms around me from behind. Asher's eyes held a tint of anger, which was then replaced with nonchalance, swiftly.
"Yeah," I informed him, turning to face him. His brown hair had droplets in it, causing it to sparkle. I smiled at him, and his arms, which were still wrapped around me.
It filled me with a thrill, our proximity.
I quickly closed the space between us, my heart stuttering slightly, and my arms wrapping themselves around his neck. He relaxed, pushing me up against the pool wall, so I didn't have to kick to stay afloat. I wrapped my legs around him, and he clutched onto the wall to keep us above water. His lips were soft, and scented with chlorine and lemon. It soothed me, as did his chest pressed up against mine.
He broke away from me, gasping just like me, when he whispered in my ear, softly.
"Maybe we should take this somewhere else?" he suggested, his voice husky. I blushed as I noticed everyone staring at us, and nodded meekly. My eyebrows furrowed for a moment, when I didn't see Asher anywhere.
"I need to get something out of my locker anyways," I winked, as he grinned at me, pulling me up onto the side of the pool. He pushed himself up too, and we both got up smoothly, and walked towards the locker room.
As soon as I walked into the locker room, I was met with the scarring sight of Asher on top of that girl he was talking to before, except this time, her bikini wasn't on her.
My heart fell a little, when I chided myself for being a hypocrite.
Wasn't this exactly what I was doing to him?
But he didn't like me.
Did that mean I liked him?
Well shit, I guess I like Asher.
Nope, that was not possible.
I crinkled my nose in disgust, and turned away, dragging Jace with me.
"I guess this'll do," I shrugged, plopping down on a black couch in one of the pale pastel rooms. The itchy leather sent uneasy feelings through me, and I think Jace noticed that.
Somehow, he procured his shirt from before, and handed it to me.
"Really?" I asked him with an eyebrow raised.
"You don't know how hard it is to control myself around you," he whispered lowly.
"Then why do you?" I asked him, my expression clearly showing my confusion.
"Because I don't want to hurt you," he told me sitting down next to me, "all I want is for you to be happy."
"You make me happy. Now stop this pesky 'control' thing you were talking about," I told him, poking his cheek lightly.
He smiled at me, right before crashing his lips against mine.
