He smirked again, his eyes still bright with excitement, and he rubbed his hands together, probably while pondering how to ask the most embarrassing question possible, so he could spread rumors around the school. I gulped uneasily as he spent a minute, just thinking.
"Why don't you ever eat your lunch?" he asked bluntly. I pursed my lips, looking away for a moment. After a fleeting moment, I looked back at him, and replied.
"Too much work," I told him, trying to keep my breath even.
"They call it truth for a reason," he shot back, raising an eyebrow suspiciously.
"Why do you even care?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly at the end.
"I'm genuinely curious," he shrugged, before leaning back against the cool metal door.
"Well, I don't want to tell you," I huffed, looking away from his penetrating gaze.
"You kinda have to," he sang, smirking slightly.
"You can't make me," I snapped, still refusing to look at him.
"Does Jace know?" Asher asked with a sneer, causing me to let out a dry chuckle.
"Why do you even care?" I reiterated, raising my eyebrow.
"I don't," he lied.
"Why?" I mocked him, a smirk forming on my face. "Are you jealous?"
"If I say yes, then will you tell me the truth?" he asked me.
"Nope."
"Then no, why would I ever be jealous of a girl like you?" he asked, his face slipping into an ugly sneer.
"That's what you said last time," I informed him, a small smile playing on the edge of my lips.
"Well," he explained, "it still applies."
"Or you don't have any better comebacks," I suggested, earning a nasty glare.
"Right. Whatever. My turn," Asher snapped, before adding seriously, "but Kara, you should talk to someone. If it's not me, talk to Jace, or your friends. Your parents."
"Don't talk about my parents," I sneered, before regaining composure after earning a concerned glance from Asher. "So, truth or dare?"
"Truth," Asher said slowly, the word hesitant. I pondered for a little while, before choosing something light hearted, to lift the heavy mood in the room.
"Where did you get that fucking lizard?" I asked him curiously.
"My lizard cage in my lizard mobile," he joked, "obviously."
"What would a lizard mobile even look like?" I mused, picturing an ugly green van in my mind.
"I have no idea," Asher confessed. "But, in reality, I found the lizard on the side of my car."
"So you thought it was a good idea to put it on my car?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Well you're not innocent either," he replied defensively. "Mesopotamia?"
"You're the one who attacked me in the dark library! What did you expect?" I exclaimed.
"That you would be all weak and submissive?" he suggested, as I glared at him.
"Well, I'm not," I huffed, before crossing my arms across my chest.
"I know that," he told me, "now."
"But the worms?" I whined.
"That was all Gerold," he informed me.
"The kid in my biology class? He seemed nice," I complained.
"Yeah, he said something about getting you back for declining his invitation to go to homecoming with him," Asher said, a smirk forming on his face. Blush rose up mine, yet again, as I came up with a believable answer.
"He's just not my type," I mumbled, shrugging slightly.
"So what's your type?" he asked me, as I peered up into his eyes.
"I have no idea," I told him truthfully, "I guess I just want someone who makes me feel like it's okay to be me."
As I spoke those words, he subconsciously leaned in. I wasn't sure what was happening, and my head was slightly fuzzy. The musk of his cologne was intoxicating, and my breath hitched as he stopped right in front of me, so that our lips were brushing.
I felt my vision become unfocused at his proximity, and a wave of nausea roll over me. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw a smirk play on the edge of his lips as he leaned back.
"You really thought I would do it?" he asked me, mocking my voice. He was slowly leaning away from me, when an idea struck my head. I smirked internally, as a plan formulated in my brain.
Before he could disappear off to the other side of the room, I tugged on his shirt, and he fell towards me, in surprise.
With a swift motion, I pressed my lips against his. My hands wrapped around his neck, but I slowly slid them up, to tangle in his hair. I pulled him closer to me, so he wouldn't be able to draw back, but it didn't seem like he wanted to. His lips were hesitant at first, still in complete shock, but soon, he loosened up, wrapping his arms carelessly around my waist.
He pressed me up against the wall behind me, and his body was surrounding me. I felt a tingle run through my body, wherever I was touching him, flowing all the way back to my heart, making it beat erratically. It felt as if electricity was coursing through my veins, as he pressed his body even closer to mine.
He sighed against my lips, as I thought, kissing him felt better than anything I had ever done.
Well shit.
