You Never Know

You never know how many breaths you’ve got left,

You never know how many words are unspoken,

So don’t leave a thought in your head,

Scream and shout until they are woken.

You never know what may be your last words,

You never know who may be your last listener,

So resolve all fights at any cost,

Don’t wake up to find they’re forever lost.

You never know what you’ll see last,

A broken bone or shattered glass,

So live each day as if your last,

Life’s too short to create a farce.

A second’s reaction, a lifetime to spare,

Or so you thought as you lay there,

Bones shattered, blood splattered, it’s all too late,

A car crash was too tempting even for fate.
