"You're still alive!" Avery screeched as I put my bag on the ground and sat in a plastic chair across from her and Nathan in the lunchroom.

"I am. And I had one of the best nights of my life," I admitted while twisting the top off of my water bottle.

"How was it? Did you have fun? Did you get caught? Why did you never text me!" She blurted out quickly.

"I'm sorry. It was a long night. I met some people and my adrenaline was really high."

"You met a guy."

"What?"

"You met a guy."

"I don't know what you're talking about," I said while taking a sip from my water. I placed my elbow on the table and winced.

"Wow, you're pretty beat up Parker," Nathan finally chimed in.

"Not too bad. Just a few cuts and bruises."

He grabbed my arm against my will and turned it towards himself, examining the deep cut in my elbow from the night before, and the small black and blue bruise on my wrist.

A bit of frustration began to fill his eyes before he dropped my arm and looked at me with a serious expression.

"What did they do to you?"

"Nothing. I just fell a few times, that's all."

"Parker this isn't a joke. I don't know who you're trying to impress, but it's certainly not me. I really think you should stop it."

"Nathan, it's a bruis and a cut. It's not a big deal."

"A bruise and a cut now, but just think about what could happen in the next week."

He shook his head and got up, throwing his backpack over his shoulder and tossing a soda into the trash can on the way out of the cafeteria.

"What was that all about?" I asked Avery, who now had a small smirk on her face.

"Come on Parker, it's so obvious!"

"What's obvious? That I'm going to get hurt?"

"No, that Nathan likes you."

I spit out my water and glared at her while wiping my chin. There's no way Nathan can like me.

"That's not true!"

"It so is! But maybe he waited too long because you obviously met a guy last night."

"I never said I did."

She rolled her eyes at me and gave me an are-you-serious expression. I know Avery can read my mind, she's been able to for years now.

"Okay, fine! I did!" I admitted in defeat.

"I Knew it! What's his name? His he our age? Does he go to our school?"

"I have no idea. But I do know that his names Levi."

"Levi," she said, dragging out his name while thinking to herself.

"Is he hot?" She asked.

"I'm not answering that. I hardly know him!"

"We'll keep me updated!" She demanded.

"I will, I promise."

"Do you see him tonight for another one of your dates?"

I rolled my eyes at her and finished drinking the last of my water bottle.

"It's not a date, it's a team. And no, I don't see him again until tomorrow night."

"Well you know who to come to with everything. Let me know what happens. I'm too hooked on your life now."

I laughed and got up to throw away my water bottle, but that's when I noticed something. Sitting at the table a few feet away was a boy with sparking eyes and a great smile. He laughed at his friends jokes and nodded before he looked up at me and met my eyes.

We both stared and each other for a moment until he began to give me a small smile, but I turned away and walked out before I had a chance to say anything.

My pulse was racing and my hands were sweating when I finally realized why those eyes looked so familiar to me.

Levi.
