"Kief, have you seen one of those thingies...," Alyssa said, while taking a bite of fishball. She was twirling the stick around, like a baton, in the air, in emphasis to what she was saying.

And all I could do is just stare at her smiling face, while trying to keep my heart from melting.

She scrunched her face in concentration, as if trying to remember something, mouthing out words I don't understand, I don't hear.

All I can use right now is my sense of sight, sense of touch, and sense of feel.

She stopped walking and leaned on a railing, still mouthing out words. I love how her hair dances with the breeze... how the morning sun bathes her...

And how she rolled her eyes at me.

"What now?" I asked, munching on my fishball.

"Sabi ko na nga ba di ka nakikinig," she murmured, and picked a fishball from her plastic cup.

"Nakikinig kaya ako," I lamely responded to her, sliding next to her, leaning on the railing.

"You were not," she sighed. I gently bumped my shoulder to hers, trying to make amends, while taking a bite of the fishball.  She didn't budge.  "Ly, naman... may iniisip lang ako."

She was still silent, focused on picking up the fishball from her cup. I know she was sulking.

"Okay, sorry... aaminin ko, I was not listening. Will that merit me another cold treatment for being honest?" I tried to play with her good reasoning.

She stopped playing with her food, looked straight ahead as if awoken from her trance, and looked at me, "Oh, come on... so now you're turning the table -"

"I'm not. Look," I touched her hand, "sometimes, when a guy is enamored, all he does is just stare at the girl he loves... and dream dreams for the both of them."

"You've got to be kidding me," she said and started to walk ahead of me.

"Honest, Ly! I was ... I was just staring at you," I confessed, trying to half-run to catch up with her.

She rolled her eyes again.

I pulled her hand, to make her stop and look at me, "Can I not be like any other boy helplessly falling in love?"

She blushed and looked away.

Thank you, God! I want to take a picture of this day and pin it to the timeline of my life story.

I tried to gently touch her face, and make her face me. She slowly brought her eyes to mine and said, "That must be the cheesiest line I have ever heard."

That stopped me. Was there someone else throwing lines at her?

She was reading my face and laughed, "God, Ravena... you are such a dork!"

What was it this time???

She tried to catch her breath, and smiled a big smile, "You know, sometimes I wish for the days when we could just laugh heartily about anything and everything, without trying to read between the lines... without the complexities of a romantic relationship."

We started walking towards my car. Was that just a letdown?

"Ly, sometimes I'm scared of what you are going to say next..."

She stopped walking, and tried to hide her smile. But her eyes reveal them still.

"But you know what?" she said, mischievously, "I'm definitely more happy with where we are right now."
