I don't know how long I slept, but I do know that Optimus never let me leave the safety of his hand. My eyes fluttered open to find that Optimus was sitting on the floor with his hand tucked against his broad chest and that he was asleep. His face looked completely different, calmer, and less serious than when he was awake. He looked. . . like, what I assumed to be, a normal Autobot and not a Prime. My lips twitched into a small smile as I whispered up at him, "Rest up, Prime."
I jumped slightly as he woke up and gazed at me. Optimus sighed as he slowly got to his feet and walked over to a main platform that the army personnel would use often to communicate with the Autobots, let me get off his hand, and said, "I feel that something is troubling you, Terrance. What is it?"
He sure does get straight to the point. I ran my hands through my ebony hair and began to pace in front of him, "I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I am a. . . Cybertronian."
It was an honest answer and I eased myself into a chair so I wouldn't fall over. Optimus leaned closer to the point where I could see the separate gears in his eyes moving slowly, " All I can say, Terrance, is that you and your family are not the only ones who have sought refuge on strange planets to escape the war on Cybertron. Many Autobots, including myself and my team, have been scattered amongst the stars by this war."
I nodded, "Did you know my mother at all?" Optimus's face seemed to become pained and he began to turn away from me, but he lurched to a halt when I said, "Please, Optimus! I don't want to be left alone."
He halted and faced me again, "Are you afraid of being alone?"
"Yes, Optimus. I'm afraid to be all alone. . . I feel abandoned whenever I am."
Optimus looked over at the rest of the team, huddled in the corner of the hangar, and said softly, "I will be sure to never leave you alone, Terrance. I didn't know your mother; however, I heard of her sacrifice from a scout who witnessed the entire event. . . That is the extent of my knowledge on this matter."
My heart sank slightly at his answer, but all I did was nod. At least he had the decency to be honest with me about it. Unlike everyone else who lied to me from the moment I could understand. . . I knew deep down why Aaron and Kitty lied to me from the start; however, they also must've known that I would be somewhat angry with them about the whole thing.
All I knew of my mother as of now was that she sacrificed herself for me and saved me from a 'Megatron' character. . . Truthfully, I longed to know more. What did she look like? Did I have any of her looks? . . . Would my father ever come looking for me?
The last question lurked in the back of my mind as I gazed out at the rising sun pouring in from the windows above us and got ready to begin a new day with a soft sigh.

Once the rest of the team was awake and ready, Optimus split them up so they could go out and do some recon. I wanted to go; however, Ratchet told me that I would be easy pickings for the Decepticons if they were to catch me alone. He said it would take me a few weeks to get back into the field and I accepted it. My transformations were getting easier and faster as time went on and I worked out with the army guys to build up my stamina.
At the current moment, I had been doing some research on a specific Decepticon, called Megatron, when I heard a desperate cry over the radio say, "We need backup right now! The 'cons have us pinned and Optimus is down!"
Optimus is down? My mind went blank as I charged for the door, transformed, and sped towards the location of the altercation without looking to see if anyone followed me. I easily dodged several missiles before I hid myself behind some rubble once I arrived. The screams of dying 'cons filled my ears and I was relieved to see that Ironhide, Bumblebee, and Jazz had come with me and were currently in the process of killing the enemy fighters. A low moan caught my attention and I slowly transformed so I could sneak closer unseen; however, the raw cry that left my lips drew all Autobot optics to what I was looking at.
