Author's Note:

Hey everyone! I've decided to make this the final chapter of My New Life as an Autobot. I'm thankful to all of you who have stayed with this story for so long and it has brought me great joy to read your comments; however, I've come to the realization there isn't too much more that can happen with Terry and Tessa. . . But, I will write this final chapter and you guys can give me feedback on what you think.

Thanks again to all of you!

Terry's POV

Time really can fly when you aren't paying too close attention. It felt like only yesterday that Tessa had screamed for me to stop in the middle of the road, but it's been only nine months and now I'm pacing in a hospital waiting room as my wife brings a little being into the world.

Of course, Optimus opted to come with me and I was grateful to have my father there next to me. He tried to get me to relax, but I could feel his worry over the bond and it was just as strong as mine. All of the other Autobots were waiting out in the parking lot and Ironhide was getting antsy about how long Tessa was taking.

My spark trembled with worry. . . What if Tessa died during the process? What if the baby died? What if. . .? All of those thoughts swam through my head as I paced back and forth.

A nurse came over to me and I felt my spark aching as she looked up at me with a blank look. My voice trembled as I dared to ask, "I-Is everything alright?"

The nurse smiled slowly and motioned for me and Optimus to follow her. Optimus stayed beside me the entire time as we wound our way down the maze of hallways and finally made it to the room Tessa was in. I wanted to run into the room, but my legs wouldn't move. . . Truth be told, I was petrified of what I would find. I couldn't bear the thought of walking into that room and finding Tessa's dead body waiting there for me. . . "She's waiting for you in there," The nurse said and then left me and Optimus standing there in the hallway.

My father placed his hand on my shoulder and said gently, "We shouldn't keep her waiting too much longer, or she might come out here."

I laughed at his words because I knew they were true. With a small smile, I finally walked to the door and entered the room. What I saw nearly brought me to my knees. . .

Tessa lay propped up on the pillows with a light blue bundle cradled in her arms and a tired smile on her face. She looked up at me and I could see the relief that shone there as she whispered, "Come on over and meet your son, Orion."

I walked over numbly and gazed upon my newborn son for the first time with pride raging in my spark. The little baby stirred as I leaned close and I allowed my tears to flow as I saw the strong spark shining in his chest. My own spark reached out to my son's and I truly felt as though I had entered the All Spark as I created a bond with my son.

Optimus quietly came over and watched us with a proud look on his grizzled face. He had watched me grow up all this time, had stood up for me when I couldn't stand up for myself, and he had accepted me as his son even though I had been human. His smile lit up the whole room as he asked Tessa and I, "What will you name him?"

Tessa and I looked at each other for a moment before Tessa whispered, "How about we name him Cliff? Cliff Primus Pax."

My smile grew and I nodded, "That's a fine name." Our group of Autobots had lost a good warrior earlier that week named Cliff Jumper and we'd all felt the loss even though Cliff had only been with us for a few short months. I gently took my son from Tessa and held him close as I whispered, "Welcome into our family, Cliff. . . Meet your grandfather. . ."

Optimus looked worried as I gently placed my son in his arms, but relaxed as the child wasn't afraid of him. He kissed Cliff's forehead gently and whispered, "You are the son of a fine warrior, Cliff. . . One day, I'l tell you his story and you'll probably see yourself in him."

I swelled with pride at the compliments Optimus was giving me and I knew he was right about it all. My story legacy would go on when I was gone and Cliff would also tell my story to those who had never heard of it. . . My successes, my failures, the moments of pain and joy, and of how it all began all those years ago with a book I checked out from the library at my High School. I made a promise right then to take care of my son like Optimus had taken care of me and that I would give my life for this child in a spark beat. And as I joined my family in the tender moment, I knew that there would be more to my story; however, I wouldn't be the one telling it anymore. . . Cliff would be the one who'd tell the rest of my story from his eyes.
