Chapter 13 ~ Don't cry

When we finally pulled back to breathe I slowly blinked my eyes open and I immediately came face to face with a grinning Ethan. He looked so happy I could feel my stomach flip and my heart beat extra hard inside my chest. How could someone seem so utterly pleased by a simple kiss? Then again, I must admit there was nothing simple about this kiss... What was I even doing?

"Well... that happened... maybe we should head back to the others now?" I said, tugging at strands of my hair nervously while avoiding eye contact with the man before me. I felt embarrassed all of a sudden and I didn't even understand why. It was just a kiss. A moment of weakness where I let my feelings take over. Right?

Because my thoughts were whirling around inside my head I didn't notice Ethan's inquiring look but when he let out a small chuckle I could feel my gaze travel to him unconsciously. He was staring at me, a bit of amusement clear in his eyes.

"Am I making you flustered sweetheart?" He said in a teasing tone and I could feel my eyes widen slightly before I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Yeah right, duck face! As if I would ever be moved by anything you do! " I exclaimed, my voice defensive as I pointed at him. Ethan simply smirked at me and shook his head.

"Sure, sure..." He said, laughing at my pouting look. This man was seriously trying my patience wasn't he?

Before I could say anything else Ethan stepped forward and took a hold of my hand. He began to walk back the way we'd come and I had to focus on where to put my feet so I wouldn't stumble as he dragged me with him. Since he was taller than me he also had longer legs and his steps were a bit difficult to keep up with. Not that I would ever admit that...

When we got back to where the cars were Ethan immediately stalked up to the one we had driven and pulled out a pair of shorts from the trunk and slipped them on. When he was finally dressed again I let out a sigh in relief and then I suddenly realized that Ash and the others were no where around. I frowned and turned to ask Ethan if he had any idea to where they had gone when my eyes landed on Kate who was running up the beach towards us with Regina and Amber in tow. The girls stopped in front of us and Regina looked like she would faint any second now.

"What are you doing? You're all looking like you're being chased or something." I said, staring at them as they tried to catch their breaths. After a second Regina straightened up and gave me and Ethan a serious look.

"Ash has been taken!" She exclaimed and for a moment silence settled around us as I tried to process what she was trying to say.

Ash had been taken? Taken where? Taken by whom?

I stared at the three girls and then I slowly shifted my eyes in the direction they had been coming from. Before I had time to think about it I was walking.

I hadn't taken more than five steps when a hand grabbed my arm and I was pulled to a stop. I looked down on the hand holding my arm and then I raised my gaze to meet with Ethan's. He was giving me a look I knew all to well and without even listening to him I tried to shake him off and pull out of his grip.

"Let go!" I growled at him and received a hard glare in response.

"Tell us what happened." Ethan said, shifting his eyes over to Regina while he took a firmer hold of my arm. Regina stared at him and then she opened her mouth to speak.

"We were ready to gather everyone in the cars again when we noticed that you guys weren't back and Ash decided to go look for you. It was just that he walked into the woods for some reason and when we got there he was already gone. Anton and the others said it was rogues or something like that... and then they took off somewhere." Regina said, shifting her eyes between Ethan and I.
