As soon as the voice stopped speaking Ash carefully shifted around until he was partly hidden behind Ethan. I wanted to laugh at the obvious use of him as a shield against the intimidating men that had stepped up to join our little group of misfits but I managed to hold it in.

I watched as Ash grew silent and sort of hid himself behind a look of soft innocence. He sure knew how to play the 'don't kill me'-part well.

"Is it just me or are they not glaring at me?" Lazarus said with an amused tone as he blinked at Ash and I could see said boy flinch a bit.

"No, that would be sweet little me..." Ash managed to say and I could see him send Lazarus a slight glare for pointing it out. Well it wasn't like anyone could miss the way in which the three newly arrived men stared at him. They looked royally pissed and for once I was glad to see that it wasn't at me.

"How strange! Have you been a bad boy Ash?" Lazarus said, letting his voice take on a bit of a condescending tone. If it had been me I would have hit him, I'm sure of it...

When I saw Ash's face turn into a frown I decided to ease the tension a bit. I stepped up beside Ethan and wrapped my arms around Ash's waist, tugging him against me. When he turned his head toward me I could see irritation swirl in this eyes but I paid it no mind. He was always irritated at something.

"Excuse me but why the hell are you hugging me?" Ash said in annoyance.

I shot him a bright smile and made sure to tighten my grip a bit as I answered:

"It looked like 'sweet little you' needed one, that's why!"

Ash got a look of slight confusion on his face but then his eyes swirled and my smile widened.

"Well if I would have needed one it wouldn't have been from you, retard. Go hug your ma...aa...that guy instead!" He hissed, pointing at Ethan who was looking at us in slight annoyance. Oh he so did not play that card!

"Aww but I would much rather hug you Ash." I said, deliberately making my voice sweet as sugar as I leaned closer to his face, silently enjoying the troubled look on his face as I did. He was getting seriously tense and I guess it had something to do with the fact that the three guys who had supposedly kidnapped him and Kate were all glaring at us dangerously.

"Well tough, I don't want to hug you! Could you be so kind as to unhand me or do I have to make you?" Ash said, his voice taking on a pissed note.

I knew he wasn't as angry as he pretended to be though so I chuckled against him and made a pouting face as I answered:

"That's cold Ash. I was just trying to be nice..."

Ash just huffed and put his palms against my chest, pushing me away and this time I complied and gave him some space. Though when he turned around and proceeded to ignore me I was going to grab him again but before I could do so someone took a hold around my arm and I was suddenly pulled backwards.

I let out a small yelp as Ethan roughly tugged me closer and positioned me slightly behind him. He gave me a firm look that silenced any objections I may have had and I settled for a glare his way. He was treating me like a child and I didn't appreciate it one bit. I may be a couple of years younger than him but I wasn't in need of a babysitter for God's sake!

"Get over here." A deep voice said and I moved my gaze to look at one of the new guys. He was speaking to Ash and I could literally see my friend shrink under his impressive glare. It was obvious that it wasn't a request, he was ordering him and somehow I found it a bit curious.
