*TOBIAS POV*
The irrational thought of having everyone I know and care about to get killed whizzes through my mind. I can't lose Tris again, I can't lose my mum again. I will never let the two women in my life to die or disappear.
I stormed out of the room while Tris was asking about my mum. I haven't spoken to her in ages so I don't know if she is dead or alive. I find myself getting some cake out of the fridge and wonder through the aisles of torn down shelves until I find a place where it isn't dirty or broken.
After my first bite, I hear footsteps. I lower my hand on the gun placed in my back pocket, and placing the cake to the side of.
'Tobias' Tris whispers, trying not to get any attention from anyone back in the room. Her footsteps come closer and closer until I see her petite figure lurking in the dim light. 'Tris' I speak, with anger and panic holding on to my voice.
She comes to the opposite side of my arm and slides down the wall. There isn't much distance between us. She props her head on my shoulder, I'm just the perfect height for this. 'I'm sorry' Tris mutters under her breath, which is shaky. I look down at her, noticing drops of water leaving her eyes.
'Don't be, I just don't want you or any of my family killed, excluding Marcus' the thought of his name still shivers down my spine, even though I beat the crap out of him in Candor headquarters, I am still afraid.
'I'm being selfless and stupid again, aren't I' She whispers again. I first hesitate as I don't want to hurt her feelings in any way, but I have to, for her safety and my well being. 'Yes, just a little'. With that she sits in front of me, staring into my eyes, which start to make me feel small. 'Are you still going to fight, for me, your mum and the only family that's in that room bickering cause we're not there' She snaps, her eyes don't look as comforting anymore. I nod and stand up, obviously taking the cake with me and we walk back to the room, in silence, walking behind her, staring at her abnegation and dauntless symbol tattoos.
She's pissed.
//3 DAYS LATER//
The planning and preparation for this war is nearly complete. Tris hasn't spoken to me since that night I stormed out of the room. She has occasionally given my stern looks across the room, but ever since no words, just like when the wall exploded in the bureau and put Uriah in a coma.
I still love her, no matter how stupid or over-dramatic she's acting. 'How's the girlfriend?' Peter asks. I look at him with a confused look on my face, why on earth is he asking me about Tris. 'What's of your concern, it's none of your business' I snap back. He looks at the ground and whispers 'I like her, I was hoping you ended it with her'. Anger boils within me 'you will never, ever get her, she is mine, she doesn't belong to me but I love her and I hope she loves me too'I argue, using my scary instructor voice. I look over at her and she shows no expression, full of shock. 'I'm sorr..rr..y Four' He whimpers as speed walks off.
'Dude, what was that?' Zeke asks, looking concerned. 'Nothing' I stutter.
