"Arthur, I'm sorry I had to leave you. I didn't want to," says Merlin, trying to send a message to Arthur through one of the crystals in the crystal cave. "I hope one day you'll understand why. Your plan is a good one and you may yet save this kingdom, but you must beware. Your army's flank is vulnerable. There's an old path over the ridge of Camlann, and Morgana knows of it. She means to trap you, Arthur. Find the path or the battle will be over before it's begun. Find the path!"

He watched Arthur wake up. He was sure Arthur got his message. He saw him talk to Guenivere then Leon, Arthur looked so worried. Then he gave a speech once he learned that Morgana's army was on the move.
"For the love of Camelot!" Arthur yelled.
"For the love of Camelot!" His army said in Unison.
[vision ends]
"Thank you. For your help, your guidance," Merlin said to his father.
"I only offered a hand," said Balinor as he looked at Merlin with so much hope. "You stand tall on your own two feet, Merlin, like you always have done."
"As did you, father. I follow in your footsteps," replied Merlin.
"Your journey has only just begun. You wield a power you yet cannot conceive of," said Balinor. "Only in the heart of the Crystal Cave will your true self be revealed. Move towards the light. Your destiny awaits. Do not be afraid. Trust in what you are, trust in what will be."
Merlin then walked toward the light. He stopped and looked back at his father.
"Goodbye, father." Merlin said, almost tearing up.
"There are no goodbyes, Emrys, for I will always be. As you will always be," Balinor said with a warm smile, then disappeared.
As Merlin was making his way towards the light at the end of the cave he stopped again. He felt like something inside of him was telling him to look inside a crystal, one last time. He knew how dangerous it would be to see the future, he already risked seeing Arthur in the present. As much as Merlin didn't want to look, he couldn't stop himself. He turned his head towards one of the crystals and knelt down, he then started concentrating on the crystal. Suddenly a show of future events started playing. Merlin saw himself helping Arthur and his knights fighting Morgana's army. The visions were coming in fast, it was hard to tell what was going on. Merlin saw something else, something he never wanted to see. Mordred had stabbed Arthur, and then a second later Arthur stabbed Mordred. Arthur was going to die. The visions started coming in even faster, he heard himself telling Arthur he had magic, he saw them traveling in the woods, he watched Gwain die, and then he saw Arthur die in his arms. Merlin suddenly got a pit in his stomach. The man he tried so hard to protect was going to die. The last words in his vision were loud, resonating In his ears.
"The King is dead," "long live the queen."
Merlin finally looked away, he was on the ground breathing heavily. He had to go, he had to stop Mordred from killing Arthur.
Merlin got up slowly, magic pumping through his veins, he never felt more powerful than he had now. Merlin said a spell which blasted through a barricade, sending rocks flying everywhere. He walked out of the cave and said another spell, this time turning himself into someone Arthur knew, Dragoon.
----------
Everything was playing out just like the crystals had predicted. He sent Aithusa away, he helped Arthur out by blasting enemies surrounding him, but there was something that Merlin did that wasn't in the crystal. Something that would change Arthur's fate.
Merlin hurried to where he saw Arthur and Mordred in the crystal. Merlin changed back into his younger self as he ran.
----------
Arthur saw one of his fellow knights wounded. As he approached him, the knight stopped breathing. Suddenly, Mordred appeared behind Arthur with his sword coming out of the woods. Arthur turned around and they locked eyes.
Merlin soon approached them, his eyes glowed gold, and suddenly the dead Knights sword flew towards Merlin, he caught it, and made his way towards Mordred and Arthur.
"Stop!" Merlin screamed. Arthur turned his head to see Merlin.
"You shouldn't be here Merlin," said Mordred while he gripped his sword tighter. Suddenly Mordred's eyes started to water, and he became unstable. "This isn't supposed to happen!" Mordred screamed, "You can not be here!"
Arthur stood there shocked, wondering why Mordred wanted to kill him.
"I told Morgana, " Mordred said, tears now falling down his face.
"Told her what?" Asked Merlin curiously, but worried.
"About you," Mordred said with a slight smirk on his face, "about who you really are."
Merlin gulped as soon as Arthur and him made eye contact, Arthur looked so confused.
"I figured you told her once she tried to kill me," Merlin said sounding more defensive, "put the sword down."
"Never, He killed the woman I love!" Mordred screamed, "he hung her."
"The woman I loved was killed too, by a knight," Merlin said while trying to reason with him. Arthur looked at Merlin again with confusion. The thought of Freya almost brought Merlin to tears. "Sh- she was killed by Arthur, a women I loved was taken from me because of Arthur, but I forgave him, I understood why, she was a threat to the kingdom, and so was the sorcerer you loved."
"Shut your mouth!" Mordred yelled. "I'm sorry Merlin, but I can't let Arthur live, you should understand. He took our loved ones away, he doesn't even deserve you as his servant, your too good to him, you want to follow the prophecy and protect him, and worst of all, he doesn't even know the real you!"
"Merlin, what is he taking about?" Arthur asked worriedly.
"Mordred," Merlin said, ignoring Arthur, "that's not all true." Merlin started making his way to them with his sword.
Mordred grabbed Arthur and turned him around. Arthur's back was pressed against Mordred's chest, Mordred's arm around Arthur with his sword against his neck.
"No!" Merlin screamed.
"There's only one way to defeat me, which will evidently reveal your big secret to your king here," said Mordred, "Then you will suffer the same fate as my loved one did."
"Please," Merlin said as he fell to his knees. Tears started falling from his eyes while Arthur watched him. "Mordred, I am begging you, please, do not kill Arthur."
"The great Emrys, on his knees begging before me." Said Mordred while smirking. "If you want your revenge, kill me." Said Merlin.
Mordred chuckled, then went back to looking serious, "Why would I kill you, that's not revenge."
"Arthur killed someone you cared about, so kill someone he cares about. You know deep inside that Arthur and I are friends, and if you kill me, Arthur will suffer, he will never forgive himself." Merlin replied.
"Merlin, stop," Arthur said while giving him a worried but stern look. He was trying to fight his way out of Mordred's arms.
Mordred pressed the sword harder on Arthur's neck, and held him in a tighter grip.
"Think about it," Merlin said quickly, "if you kill Arthur, I will kill you, and you won't be able to get away. But if you kill me, Arthur won't be able to get to you, and you can get away easily." Merlin took his sword and slid it on his side, under his belt, he then put is arms up in surrender.
Mordred thought about it for a second, he thought about how he didn't even want to live anymore. But if he killed Merlin, he could survive this, and he could also kill Guenivere, Arthur's love.
Suddenly, Mordred backed up and kicked Arthur in the back, causing Arthur to fall forward onto the ground. Merlin quickly stood up, and while Arthur was facing the ground, using magic, Merlin made the sword in Mordred's hand burn him and then he released it, letting it crash to the ground.
"Ahh," mordred yelled in pain. Merlin quickly bent down to get it, but in the process of doing so, Mordred grabbed the sword out of the side of Merlins belt. Merlin knew he screwed up but he couldn't have used magic to pick up Mordred's sword because Arthur had turned to look up when Mordred yelled.
Mordred looked at Merlin. "You changed Arthur's fate, I've known for awhile that I was Arthur's doom and he was mine, but thanks to you, it's just yours," Mordred said smirking. Merlin closed his eyes and fell to his knees once more. When Arthur knew what was about to happen, he started to get up, drawing out his sword in the process.
But Arthur was too late. Mordred pierced the blade through the side of Merlin's stomach, then ripped it out aggressively. Merlin looked down in shock.
"NOO!" Screamed Arthur, and just as Mordred turned around to face him, Arthur thrust his sword into Mordred. Mordred smiled creepily, it was as if he didn't feel any pain, he then slowly fell to the ground. Arthur was breathing heavily, he couldn't believe what he just did, he killed one of his most loyal Knights, even though Mordred almost killed him, it still hurt to kill Mordred, but Arthur did it for Merlin. He looked over at Merlin, who was already staring at him. He was bleeding, bleeding a lot.
