Authors Note:
Posting two chapters in one day wow. I feel like I'm bad at writing, I feel like I'm not giving enough detail but I'm trying, it would help if you guys could tell me what you think. Anyways, remember Morgana put the Fomorroh in Arthur's neck so he is tempted to kill Merlin, and I sense a big fight scene with Merlin and Arthur next chapter :))
--------
The sun, was scorching hot. Sweat, was running down the sides of his face. Legs, were feeling weak and numb. Throat, was so dry. He was panting, taking in every breathe as if they were his last. Adrenaline was pumping through his veins.
"Come on, come on!" Yelled Gwaine while he was running, "Stay with with Merlin, hang in there!"
Just between the trees he could see Camelot, he was so close.
------
"Move, move! Out of my way," yelled Gwaine as he was passing people in the castle. When he reached Gaius' chambers he kicked the door open and came in fast.
"What happened?" Asked Gaius with fright.
Gwaine rushed Merlin over to the bed and laid him down.
"He was-was, stabbed," said Gwaine, his eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the floor, passed out.
Gaius grabbed a towel, wet it in a bucket of cool water and put it over Gwaine's head. He had to leave him on the ground since he was too weak to pick him up. He went over to Merlin and started to examine his wound. He pulled up Merlin's shirt and gasped at what he saw. The wound was infected and Merlin had lost too much blood. Gaius started cleaning the would first thing, after that he applied pressure to stop the bleeding. Merlin was burning up so he did the same thing he did to Gwaine and put a cold watered towel on Merlin's forehead. He then patched up Merlin's wound. When he was finished with treating Merlin he started to work on a potion to ease Merlin's pain. About an hour later Gwaine woke up fine, and he waited around for Merlin to wake up, which took 3 more hours after Gwaine.
"Arthur?" Merlin said tiredly, eyes still closed.
"No, no Merlin, it's me, Gwaine." Suddenly Merlin reminded him about Arthur.
"Oh no, I have to gather a search party," said Gwaine as he got up.
"What for?" Asked Gaius.
"King Arthur is missing," said Gwaine worriedly.
"How could that be possible?" Asked Gaius, "He arrived just before you guys got here."
"What?" Said Gwaine.
"I saw Arthur arrive this morning, without a horse and without Merlin, so I knew something had to be wrong with Merlin and it was just a matter of time before you guys came in," said Gaius.
"Did you ask Arthur where Merlin was?" Asked Gwaine.
"Yes, He simply said, he had no idea." Said Gaius.
Gwaine stared at Gaius and then at Merlin, who had apparently finally had opened his eyes. "Merlin, I'm sorry."
"H...how could you have been right?" Said Merlin sadly, "How could he leave us, leave me?"
Gwaine looked down, he hated that he was right about Arthur.
"I have to attend to my duties, but I'll be back to check on you later," said Gwaine as he slowly walked out of the room.
"What was that all about?" Asked Gaius.
"Arthur left last night, and he never came back, he only left to get some water from a nearby river," said Merlin.
"How far were you guys were from Camelot?" Asked Gaius.
"Almost three miles," said Merlin.
"So he left last night, and arrived at Camelot this morning?" Said Gaius, mostly to himself, "He had to have stopped somewhere before, there's no way it would take him all night to travel just three miles."
"Maybe you should go talk to him," replied Merlin.
"Maybe I should," said Gaius as he walked out of the room.
"Okay," said Merlin. "Just leave me here, all by myself."
------
When Gaius reached the Kings chambers he knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Yelled a familiar voice from the inside.
"Me sir," Gaius yelled back.
"Come in."
Gaius opened the door to see Arthur at his table doing work.
"What can I do for you Gaius," said Arthur, not even looking up from what he was writing.
"Where were you all night Sire?" Asked Gaius suspiciously.
Arthur chuckled and then made eye contact with the old physician. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.
"Funny story actually," said the King with a smile full of embarrassment on his face. "You see, I was going to get water for my friends in the woods. Then I got lost for the longest time, I had finally given up on finding a river so I turned around and tried to find our mini camp sight, and I couldn't find that either, I was officially lost. So I slept on the ground for a little, then when I woke up, I searched through the woods a little longer and then I found my way here, back in Camelot."
Something didn't add up to Gaius, he just stared at the King and wondered what could have actually happened until Arthur interrupted his thoughts.
"Is Merlin back yet?" Asked Arthur.
"Yes, sire, Merlin came in shortly after you." Said Gaius.
"Okay." Said Arthur, then he got back to writing again.
"If you want to go see him, he's in my chambers," said Gaius.
"No Thankyou," said Arthur casually. When he realized what he just said he looked up at Gaius to see his mouth wide open in shock. "I mean, as you can see, I have lots of work to catch up on, so I might stop by later."
Gaius just nodded and left Arthur's chambers. Something was clearly wrong with the king, and Gaius could tell that story was full of lies.
