Merlin walked away from Arthur's chambers with his fists clenched by his sides. Anger pierced through him, he felt his magic boiling inside of him, as if it was hot, burning lava. He wondered why Arthur was so selfish, but Arthur didn't get what Merlin had to go through everyday, Merlin had to save his life every single damn day. Gaius was out and about, on nightly errands, so he wouldn't be there when Merlin took out his rage.
He busted through his chambers and went straight for the closest table. Merlin laid down his forearms on the edge of the table, then violently moved them across quickly, pushing everything off. He panted hard and stared down at the now empty table. He turned around and ran out the door, leaving the broken bottles and books dispersed on the ground. He walked through the castle with determination, for what? He didn't know. Once he made it outside he walked straight towards the woods.
-----
Arthur put his hands down on the table, he leaned all his body weight on them as he hung his head down forward, wondering what he did wrong. What was Merlin so mad about really? Was it the fact that he told him they could never be friends or the fact that he beat him up. Arthur suddenly felt sick to his stomach. He was the one who did those things to Merlin. Even if he had no control over what he did, it was still his face that Merlin sees beating him over and over again. Arthur decided he was going to go reason with Merlin, so he left his chambers a few minutes later. When he knocked on the physicians door he heard Gaius scream out, "come in!"
Arthur walked in and stopped once he saw the old physician picking up books, papers, broken class, and emptied bottles.
"What happened?" Arthur asked in shock.
"Maybe Merlin did this, I walked past him in the hallway, and he looked pretty angry." Gaius replied then looked up at the prince with an eyebrow raised.
Arthur stood there and stared at the mess, his eyes were still wide.
"You wouldn't know anything about Merlin's temper.... Would you?"
Arthur finally snapped out of his thoughts, "oh, um, no, sorry... But, do you know where he was heading?"
"Can't say exactly sire," said Gaius sadly.
Arthur looked down and started heading back out the door until the physician spoke once more, "but, if I had to guess, I would say he was heading outside."
"What for?" Arthur asked abruptly.
"Couldn't say, but, I do not suggest going after him." Gaius said suspiciously.
"And why shouldn't I?" Arthur asked with attitude, "he could get hurt out there."
"Because I'm afraid, that if you go after him, you may walk in on something you don't want to see." Gaius said softly.
"I'm not sure I understand," Arthur replied.
"One day, when the time is right, you will," said Gaius, "and everything that you have ever thought to be weird or didn't make sense, will come to light."
"But, but there are bandits and-,"
"Merlin can take care of himself," said Gaius quickly, interrupting Arthur.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let him go out there by himself at this time of night." Arthur said as he walked out the door.
------
Merlin had been walking for a little bit, still angry at Arthur, but more at the world. When he reached a clearing he fell to his knees. He looked down and started crying.
"Why?" Merlin said as he looked up into the sky, he was sobbing right now, tears were falling down the side of his temples and into his Raven black hair. "WHY!" Merlin screamed louder, he was talking to the gods. "Why me? Why did it have to be me? Why do I have to be the one with the greatest destiny, why do I, have to be the one to save everyone, from everything! I have practically dedicated my life to Arthur. Everything he has accomplished, is because of me, his whole life is a lie. All because you want magic to be brought back to Camelot. All because of one stupid decision Uther made! So you take it out on his son, you try to kill him because he made a decision to not allow magic back into the kingdom. It's his kingdom, not yours!" Merlin screamed, he stood up restlessly. He opened up his arms wide, still staring at the sky. "Well guess what!" He screamed even louder. "I defied the prophecy, I saved Arthur from dying! There is no more prophecy, he doesn't need me to protect him anymore. His life is his own now. He chooses when he lives or dies. There is no more reuniting Albion! It's over! Your hear that! Over!"
Suddenly a lighting strike pieced through the sky making Merlin jump a bit. Followed shortly after was rain. Merlin's face was still facing upward as rain poured onto him, he was soaked from head to toe in just moments.
-----
As Arthur was making his way across the grassy field towards the woods. A sudden lightning bolt followed by a loud bang echoed through the sky. Arthur stood there looking up to see what was going on.
"You guys mad or something?" Arthur teased at the sky. When he started to continue walking, rain starting to put down on him. "Great." He said sarcastically.
