"Gwen! No, please, Gwen!" I say through my sobs, the tears making my words difficult to decipher. Her body lays limp in my arms, her skin turning a pale white.
Her face became wet with my tears, as I began to stroke her face. I could hear the sound sirens in the distance as the police grew closer to where we were; obviously someone had seen or heard the commosion.
I slipped my mask back on just as the ambulance arrived, and loaded Gwen into the back. "Will she be alright?" I asked.
The paramedic only shook her head, "It's small, but if we get there in time there's hope. She'll suffer some serious injuries though."
I nod in response as I pray, harder than ever before that Gwen, my Gwen, will be alright. I wanted to go inside the van with her, but knew that at the moment, she needed Peter Parker more than Spiderman.
