Peter's POV
After what felt like forever, the day had finally arrived. Today Gwen was finally coming home from the hospital.
I pulled Aunt May's car up to the hospital entrance. No, before you ask, I don't have my own car, but really, why would I need it? I mean, really, I'm Spiderman. I could just swing us across New York if Gwen's memory-
I instantly stop my thoughts. Dwelling too hard on Gwen's....condition wouldn't help me any.
Sighing, I opened the car door and walked inside to Gwen's room. I knocked on the door.
"Come in," her voice said from the other side of the door.
I entered the room to see her seated at the end of the bed, staring at her hands.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I ask softly and sit on the other side of her.
She shakes her head before quietly asking, "Peter, can I ask you something?"
Normally, I would grab her hand in mine to encourage whatever she's going to say, but I can't do that. Not now. So instead I shake my head and give her grin, "Yeah, anything, Gwen."
She looks at me, her green eyes boring into my own, "Why are you being so nice to me, Peter? I mean, you've come and kept me company every day. And now you're driving me home. Why? We never really talked much, or at all, really."
I don't say anything at first. But seriously, how do I respond to that?
Because you're my girlfriend, Gwen. Because you would do the same for me. Because you're amazing- every part of you is. Because I love you.
"Because you're a really nice girl, Gwen. And we never really talked much, but I think it'd be nice if we did." I say and place my hand gingerly on her knee.
Gwen doesn't move away. She smiles. "It would be nice." Then she suprises me. Instead of saying anything else, she leans up and places a kiss on my cheek. "Thanks, Peter."
I am tempted to reach up and press my hand against my cheek, where her lips just brushed my cheek. But not wanting to weird her out I refrain myself.
"Of course, Gwen."
