"hi, haneul," jimin sighed.

"hello, park jimin. are you hungry? i brought cupcakes for my patients today," haneul smiled.

"no thank you, i'm not really up for cupcakes," jimin murmured.

it had been three months since haneul made jimin break down and jimin hadn't been the same since.

haneul sighed as she walked over to jimin, squatting to his eye level.

"jimin, please talk to me," haneul frowned. jimin said nothing in return, which frustrated haneul even further.

"i feel like i'm close to figuring out who murdered your mother," haneul sighed, placing a hand on jimin's thigh.

"why are you even bothering? the case was closed and that's that," jimin huffed, pushing haneul's hand off of him. jimin regretted it though, missing the warmth her touch brought him.

"because, i can see you. the real you. you're not a monster. the real monster is walking around, silently boasting how he killed two-- no three people," haneul grunted in response. she placed her hands on jimin's shoulders and brought her face close to his.

"wait, what do you mean three?" jimin asked, his eyes meeting her burning gaze.

"i mean that the actual person who did this murdered another girl and her unborn child and framed someone else," haneul frowned.

"but why?" jimin asked, searching every part of his memory to recall any enemies he may have made. none came to mind.

"revenge, jealousy, just because. i haven't found their motive or how exactly the murders are connected. i just know they are because both of the victims died the same way, in the same situation and had the same weapon," haneul huffed.

jimin shifted in his seat when he noticed their close proximity. haneul was staring off at the wall behind jimin, doing some deep thinking.

"why are you helping me? why me out of everyone else?" jimin asked, his voice small.

haneul's eyes flickered back to jimin, his face had fallen in disappointment. he had slight bags under his eyes and his hair was tousled and a mess. his lips were slightly chapped, but pouty and pink nonetheless.

"because i care for you, park jimin. you're not a psychopath. you're not like these other people who walk through the door and boast about their crimes," haneul smiled softly, eyes scanning his face.

the two allowed their eyes to meet and both of their hearts began to race.

"i'm going to get you out, park jimin. i promise," haneul smiled.

"if you're going to promise me something, promise me this: don't get hurt because of me. believe it or not you're the only source of joy in my life right now and i care for you and i would truly go crazy if something were to happen to you because of me," jimin spoke softly, eyes intently staring at haneul.

haneul leaned in and left a kiss on jimin's lips, quick and feathery. it felt, to jimin, as if it hadn't happened at all.

"i promise," haneul smiled, her hands reaching up to jimin's hair, combing her fingers through it.

"good," jimin smiled, tilting his head up to return the kiss.

just then, a knock sounded on the other side of the door, causing haneul to pull back and sit in her chair.

"come in," haneul beckoned. the door flung open and jimin's eyes landed on a tall and lengthy boy with blonde hair and extremely pale skin.

jimin hated to admit so, but he was handsome and jimin was jealous of the way haneul smiled at this boy.

"ah, jin. what's going on?" haneul asked, leaning into her seat. haneul hadn't missed the heated gaze jimin was giving jin. it made her body warm with excitement.

"you're never going to believe the case i just got. the victim? stabbed and brutally battered on the skull, pregnant, too. the suspect? a drunk boyfriend," jin huffed.

"you're kidding. who's the boyfriend?"

"min yoongi."
