"oh, hey haneul. jin is out right now. went for a coffee run. but you're more than welcome to wait here for him," hoseok smiled.

"oh, thank you hoseok," haneul smiled.

"anytime. any luck on your new patients?" hoseok asked, leaning against his wooden desk, which was littered with case files he's been neglecting to file.

"so far they're being cooperative. they all want to be free men again, i suppose. they are trying to recall any eyewitnesses, but they were too intoxicated," haneul frowned.

"i don't doubt that. it blows my mind how oblivious the investigating officers were when working on the case. there are so many contributing factors that point away from the arrested suspects," hoseok groaned, rereading min yoongi's case file.

"wait, what did you just say?" haneul asked, the gears turning in her genius mind.

"i was just questioning the officers that handled the cases. to me, it seems like they really wanted these guys to be arrested," hoseok shrugged.

"what if they did want that. what if they were trying to cover up something," haneul pointed out, her eyes wide with realization.

"yeah, maybe they were trying to hide the fact that they are incompetent fools," hoseok muttered begrudgingly.

"or... they are trying to hide evidence..." haneul concluded. haneul jumped up from the seat and gripped hoseok by the shoulders.

"who were the investigating officers?!" haneul asked, voice laced with urgency. hoseok gently pulled haneul' hands off of him before picking up the case files.

"uh, some officers named kim taehyung and lee hyuk," hoseok shrugged.

was he not listening to me?, haneul thought.

haneul hurriedly walked towards the chief's office, her finger curling into a fist before knocking on the glass door.

"yeah?" a deep voice said. haneul pushed the door open and seen the officer with his head down.

"sir, where are your investigating officers kim taehyung and lee hyuk?" haneul asked, her voice showing the same amount of urgency as before.

"uhm, they have today off, to my knowledge," the chief sighed, continuing on with his business.

haneul fled the room, shutting the door behind her before returning to hoseok, who was now joined by jin.

"oh, haneul. what's going on?" jin asked, setting aside the beverages and taking in haneul's anxious appearance.

"hoseok, can you find out the addresses of kim taehyung and lee hyuk?" haneul asked, her eyes narrowing on the preoccupied boy.

"sure," hoseok mumbled, spinning in his chair to face his desk, typing on his computer right away.

"jin, get ready for a chase. i think we finally found our perpetrators. and i have a feeling they won't go down without a fight."
