"park jimin?" a man said, causing jimin to raise his head to meet the man's gaze.

"yes?" jimin asked.

"come on. you're going home," the man smiled. jimin's brows furrowed, standing to his feet.

"we have to take you to the courthouse first, but after that you can go home or do whatever you please," the man explained.

"how?" jimin asked, though he knew how. haneul was the reason.

"it seems your psychiatrist, kim haneul, helped the police department further investigate your case. caught the real perpetrators," the man smiled.

"wait, you mean there was more than one?" jimin asked, shuffling to the bars of his cell.

"yes. two investigating officers, apparently. kim taehyung and lee hyuk," the man said, beckoning the patrol officer to open the cell door.

"kim taehyung? i knew him," jimin frowned.

taehyung was my best friend. why would he do this, jimin thought.

"hence, why he chose you. though he didn't harm your mother. lee hyuk did," the man frowned, watching as jimin shamefully walked out of the cell.

"and haneul? where is she?" jimin asked, excited to finally be with haneul outside of the dreadful building.

"uhm, i can take you to her after your retrial," the man chuckled nervously.

"ani, where's haneul?" jimin asked, pulling away from his hold. jimin could feel his heart pulsate as the seconds ticked on. the man frowned in discomfort as he tried to get jimin to continue forward.

"the hospital in downtown," the man nervously confessed. jimin could feel his heart fall into his stomach, the same way it did when he found his mother.

"wh-what?" jimin asked in disbelief.

"i'll explain on the way to the courthouse but for now we need to go in order to make it on time," the man said.

"park jimin, on behalf of the city of seoul and the legal justice system, we would like to apologize for wrongfully convicting you. there is no way to repay you for the time we shamefully took away," the judge states loudly, bowing soon after as she pounded her gavel and set jimin free. in a hurry, jimin ran outside and to the streets where paparazzi started yelling at him to gain his attention.

"park jimin, how does it feel to finally be free?"

"park jimin, will you ever forgive the police department for what they did?"

"park jimin, where are you going to go next?"

questions bombarded him left and right, yet he had enough determination to cast them aside and find a taxi.

jimin's hand frantically waved back and forth, a cab pulling up beside the curb to allow jimin inside.

"where to?" the gravely voice questioned.

"seoul central hospital please," jimin murmured. the cab pulled into the streets and sped off.

jimin reflected back on what his lawyer, kim namjoon supposedly, said to him on the drive to the courthouse.

"haneul, why is she at the hospital?" jimin asked, lips quivering at the thought of her being severely hurt.

she promised, he thought.

"my boyfriend, jin, and haneul were merely going to kim taehyung's house to interrogate him. taehyung didn't like that too much and he put up quite the fight. he hurt both jin and haneul, but luckily their chief sent backup to follow jin and haneul," namjoon sighed.

"are they going to be okay?" jimin asked. he felt slightly bad that he misjudged jin when they first saw each other. admittedly, jimin felt silly for being jealous of a gay man who had no attraction to haneul.

"i haven't the slightest clue. i would like to hope so, for the sake of our sanity," namjoon answered honestly.

"hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man," jimin quoted.

"ah, friedrich nietzsche. while that may be true someone also said 'if you have hope, then happiness will bid from that hope'," namjoon calmly replied, a smile painted on his face.

"so what are you saying then?" jimin asked, anxious to get this retrial done with so he can see haneul.

"i'm saying, don't give up hope. your story isn't over yet, park jimin. what will be your happy ending?"
