(Nico's POV)

When Percy told us that Leo got hit by a car, I didn't take it so well.

I don't even know him very well. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be worried. He's friends with my friends, and he's pretty freaking awesome. I don't want him to get hurt.

And then there is the whole car piece.

Bianca was hit by a car...... And now she's dead. I don't want that to happen to Leo, too.

I honestly don't know what to do right now.

I am currently sitting in the corner of my room, knees pulled tight to my chest and slightly rocking back and forth.

My mind is swirling out of control, thinking about things that I always try to avoid.

Isn't it great how all the bad stuff in your life decides to crash down on you all at once?

It's like the dam broke.

I'm not crying- I don't have any tears. Just that awful feeling that you get in your stomach when something goes terribly wrong.

Like standing in front of a train wreck, with your leg stuck. You're not able to do anything to stop it, but you can't run either. It just keeps going and going until, eventually, it catches you.

I think it caught me.

All the pain of Bianca's death is just rushing back, eager to give me more pain to bear.

I glance over at my bathroom, setting eyes on a small object next to the shower. I step forward, then instantly turn away and scold myself. You can't! Hazel, Mom, and Dad need you! I think to myself.

With that, I just decide to go to sleep.

***************

My alarm clock blares, and I groan and start smacking it.

I check my phone immediately, but unfortunately, there are no new texts from Percy or Calypso.

I throw on my black jeans and black hoodie, brush my teeth, rake my fingers through my hair, etc, etc, then I run downstairs.

Hazel is already sitting at the table, eating a bowl of cereal. "Why do you always beat me down here?"

"Because I'm faster than you, slowpoke," she says with a giggle. I roll my eyes, and pour myself a bowl.

We eat in an uneasy silence, and before we know it, we've finished our bowls.

"Mom! We're leaving!" Hazel calls, followed by a muffled "Bye honey!" from upstairs.

We head out into the driveway, walking down the sidewalk towards school. On the way to school, we stop at Percy's. His mom answers the door and says that he's running late, and not to wait for him.

We keep going and stop at the Grace's, picking up Thalia and Jason to walk with us.

"Any word from Calypso?" Jason asks as he steps over to us. I shake my head. "I'm sure he'll be fine...." Thalia says uneasily.

We walk into first hour, and I take my seat in the very back of the room. Annabeth comes in with Thalia, and Percy follows shortly after.
