(Annabeth's POV)
"Yes, Annabeth?"
"I don't mean to correct you, Mrs. Pretiff, but you've spelled Euphrates wrong," I say, looking at the passage she has written on the board about the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
She looks back at the board, and sees that she did indeed, spell Euphrates wrong. She had written "Euphraetes".
With a sigh, she changes her spelling, and the entire class looks at me. I have corrected every teacher at least twice, and am starting to get a reputation.
Eh. I really couldn't care less.
She continues to lecture us about ancient river civilizations, and I furiously scribble down notes, not wanting to miss any important details.
She is about to move on to the Indus River, when the announcements come on over the speakers in the classroom. The principal, Mr. Dionysus' voice rings out through the classroom.
"Lockdown, lockdown. Everybody get in the closets- or not. I really don't care"
Thwack!
*muttering* "Chiron, what the heck?"We all roll our eyes at the announcement, and Mrs. Pretiff ushers us all into her back storage closet.
I take one look into that closet, and groan. It is so extremely small, we are going to have to be standing on top of each other!
"All right, single file! I need to lock up the room," she says, before running over to the front of the room to lock the door.
With a few shrugs, we cram ourselves into the closet. One by one, we slide in, and a few people mutter about how claustrophobic they are.
A few of the girls are upset, sniffling because they don't know if this is real or a drill.
I am shoved into the back of the closet, and before I know it, the lights go out and the door shuts.
I am pressed up against someone in the corner, and I can't move, due to the lack of space. Whoever I am touching has a nice set of abs...
"Ack, sorry," I say after stumbling into the person.
"Don't worry about it," comes the reply, and I can tell that he is smiling.
My gods, it's Percy of all people.
I am stuck in a dark closet without any wiggle room, my side completely pressed up to Percy's front. Could this be anymore strange?
And is it bad that I don't think that this is the worst thing in the world?
"Do you think that this is real?" Some kid in the back whispers nervously. We all stay silent, but everyone's unease is clear.
Except mine, because I am too busy contemplating the fact that I fit perfectly against Percy. What the heck?
We sit silently in the closet, and time drags on and on. A few of the couples in the room are totally wrapped around each other, and I look away in disgust.
I can feel Percy's heartbeat, and it is just as consistent and calm as normal. Mine has sped up a bit, as has everyone else's.
"How long do you think this is going to go for?" I ask Percy quietly, and he scratches the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I, uh, I'm not sure."
I smile to myself at his flustering, but then mentally catch myself.
What are you doing? No, stop it! I tell myself. This is Percy Jackson, and he's annoying and immature. Period.
After about 30 minutes of listening to a few girls crying in the back, whispering, snickering from the guys, and awkwardness for everyone, the closet door opens.
"Alright, everyone out," says Mrs. Pretiff, looking miffed. We all pour out of the closet like a river, and I pry myself off of Percy, who I think was blushing at least a little.
"Attention, students and staff. I would like apologize on the behalf of our wonderful principal, who forgot that we were in lockdown and went on with his daily activities. You may continue your classes now." Chiron announces over the speakers.
Mrs. Pretiff scowls. "Class is over in five minutes- we don't have time to complete the lesson. Your homework is to read and take notes on pages 284-288."
We all go to our desks and quickly copy down the homework assignment, then sit around then and talk for the last two minutes.
(Frank's POV)
I walk down the hallways, and on the way I meet up with Rachel.
"Hey, Frank!" She shouts, elbowing her way over to me. "Piper, Luke, Katie, and I aren't going to be at lunch today."
"Why?"
"Well, Luke got lunch detention for showing up to school two hours late without an excuse, and Katie has a Green Club meeting. Piper and I have to finish up a science lab."
"Ugh," I sigh. "Whatever, thanks for telling me."
She frowns. "Try not to pout through all of lunch period- talk to people!" And with that, she was gone into the crowd.
I roll my eyes. I don't pout! On my way to the lunch room, I bump into someone, and she drops her books.
"Oh gods, I'm so sorry!" I say quickly, bending over to help her pick up her books. She blushes a little, but nods.
I hand her the books, and she stands up. She has frizzy brown hair that is somehow picture perfect- even with the wildness of it all. She has mesmerizing golden eyes, and she is wearing a deep purple t-shirt.
I recognize the shirt as a Camp Jupiter Praetor t-shirt. Camp Jupiter is a Roman role play camp, where everyone was a 'demigod'. "Hey, I went to that camp this summer!" I say, gesturing to her shirt. She smiles, and I tell her that I was also a praetor.
"Who was your godly parent?" She asks in a quiet but friendly voice.
"Mars," I say proudly.
"Neat! Mine was Pluto," she says, then a girl from across the hall waves her over. Annabeth, I think. "Well, I have to go. Bye!" She says quietly, before ducking her head and walking over to her friends.
She was pretty.
Anyway, I walk down to the cafeteria. I find Will, and we are just heading into the lunch room when I bump into someone else.
Good gods, why am I so clumsy?
"Sorry man, didn't see you there," I say as Jason turns to me.
"No problem! What's wrong?" He asks me. We are friends, because we are both on the football team.
"Ugh, Will and I are alone at lunch today. Everybody left."
"You can come sit with me and my friends!"
"Well-"
"That sounds great!" Will says, accepting the offer and looking at me.
"It's settled. Come with me," he says, then he grabs my arm and drags me along with him to the lunch line.
"You know that Nico dude I was telling you about?" Will whispers to me. "Well, he sits with his sister, Hazel, at lunch everyday. I'm pretty sure that she sits with Jason."
