Ten

We had been driving for over three hours. At first the sexual tension in the car was almost too much to bare. Knight was just too close, and yet it felt like he was a million miles away. My hands itched to touch him, to run my fingers through his silky hair. I could only hope that he wished to touch me just as bad as I wanted to.

At some point while driving she had fallen asleep. I glanced over at the sleeping beauty in my passenger seat. She was almost too gorgeous to behold. My wolf gloated with pride at finally being able to become intimate with our mate.

I ran my hand though my hair. Thoughts of this morning running through my mind. Her small toned body pressed beneath me. I could feel myself hardening at the memory. I shook my head, trying to dislodge the thought. I had promised to go slow. Somehow, when I had first kissed her, I knew without a doubt that she had never been intimate with another male. And that made me and my wolf happy beyond belief. We would be her first, and her last.

A small sigh distracted me from my reverie. Glancing to my right I saw Renee's cheeks a slight pink. Her lips slightly parted. And her long black lashes resting gracefully against her cheekbones. My wolf purred with pride, sensing through the mate bond that she dreamt of us.

As we neared Selendale I could sense the movements of my pack members. And as they sensed my entrance back into pack territory their excitement was almost overwhelming. I silently prayed they wouldn't make a big deal of my return. I didn't want to overwhelm my mate.

Alpha, welcome home. These past few days have not been the same without our fearless leader.

Beta, good to hear that nothing bad has happened while I was away. I chuckled through the link.

Alpha, you seem. . . different. What happened while you were away? Did you succeed in retrieving the Peacemaker?

I did. Yes. I glanced over at Renee. She was still sleeping. And there's something else. I paused trying to figure out how to word the news.

Alpha?

Dimitri. . . The Peacemaker is my mate. As I pulled into the driveway of the pack house I felt his shock.

WHAT?! I cringed at the loudness of his exclamation. Dude, that's sick man. Is she hot? I bet she is, oh man. Does she have any friends that she could hook me up with?

Beta. I growled, parking the car. Don't you have a mate?

Right. Sorry man.

I shook my head, cutting off the link. I needed to focus on my mate and getting her settled in the house. Our house. God did it feel good to finally be able to say that. I quickly got out of the car and went to her side. Opening the door as quietly as I could, I gently unbuckled her. Being careful not to hit her head on the door frame I picked her up.

Holding her as tightly as I could without waking her, I brought her into the house. I could feel the astonishment and pride the pack felt as I walked by several members. Huge smiles graced many of the women's faces, and a few of the unmated females looked angry and jealous.

"Congratulations, Alpha." They all praised as I made my way to my. . . our room.

"Alexandra, please retrieve our bags from the car." I asked the short blonde to my right. Dimitri's mate.

"Right away, Sir." She said disappearing through the front door.

I was being carried, or at least that's what it felt like. I could tell immediately that they were Knight's arms. I snuggled as close to his chest as I could. I heard a door being opened and then quietly closed.
