Chapter five

Making our way through the beach toward the beach house, that question replayed in my head. I suddenly felt awkward, and didn't know what to say. But we didn't walk in silence, Leo and Nicolas carried on a conversation with ease.

When we reached the house, I could tell it was old. It looked like it had many memories to it. It looked dilapidated, but not to the point where it was falling down. It looked . . . Comfortable.

"Come on, time to show you around," Malcolm said.

We walked through the wooden front door as it creaked, and were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Easthom in the kitchen.

"Rory?" Mrs. Easthom asked. "Um, yes?" I asked. Then quickly added, "So, uh, how are you Mrs. Easthom?" I asked trying to be polite. "Oh I'm good Rory. So tell me, how have you been? What have you been up to?" She asked.

"Um not much I guess," I replied.

"Rory have you seen your room?" She asked. "Not yet," I replied. "Boys go show her her room," she commanded.

We walked up the creaky wooden steps, me carrying half my stuff, (I finally convinced Malcolm to let me carry some of it), and they showed me my room.

My room was plain, with simple plain walls, a wooden floor, a white dresser and a four post bed with a light blue comforter. The only thing that stood out, was the one window that took up three quarters of the wall.

The view was breathtaking. It showed a clear shot of the ocean and the boardwalk to my right.

"Do you like the view?" Asked Malcolm. Yes, I thought, looking straight at him.

"Yeah, the ocean is so beautiful," I said. "Yeah," Nicolas said, coming to stand by me. "Hey I have an idea!" Leo exclaimed. "Let's show Rory around the boardwalk tomorrow."

I nodded eagerly and there were murmurs of agreement. "Yeah. Thanks for driving me here," I said happily. "No problem," Malcolm replied. I checked the electric clock on the dresser, 11:00.

"Well, see you in the morning, I need my beauty sleep," Leo said yawning an walking out the door. We all laughed.

"Yeah, I'm kinda tired so see you guys in the morning," I said. After that they left, and I was left to myself.
